🎓 GCSE Success at Leicester Grammar School! 💙

We are delighted to celebrate another fantastic set of GCSE results for our Year 11 pupils, with 56% of all grades awarded at Grade 8 or 9 and 77% at Grade 7 or above, making these among the strongest results in the School’s history.

An incredible 20 pupils achieved Grade 8 or 9 in 10 or more GCSEs! 👏

We are immensely proud of all our Year 11 pupils and look forward to seeing many of them return to LGS Sixth Form in September as they begin their next chapter. 💙

🎓 Fantastic A-level results at Leicester Grammar School!

We are incredibly proud to celebrate another outstanding set of A-level results, with 67% of grades awarded at A* or A and 87% at A–B** — our second-highest A-level results on record.

Behind these results are years of hard work, resilience and ambition from our students, supported every step of the way by their teachers and families.

Among this year’s many achievements:
14 students achieved a clean sweep of A* grades
13 secured the grades required for offers to study Medicine or Dentistry Eight achieved their offers to study at Oxford or Cambridge
Pol secured a place at the Royal Northern College of Music
Alex and Dan achieved the grades required to pursue careers as pilots
Sam and Samantha will begin degree apprenticeships with Stockdale Quantity Surveyors and Samworth Brothers respectively

🧪🌱 Chemistry at LGS 🌱🧪

Our involvement in the Salty Solutions Project, in partnership with the University of Warwick, culminated in our participation in the Metals of Life International Symposium on 5 July.

Our pupils presented their research alongside British and Chinese schools to an audience of 160 academics and fellow pupils, exploring the challenging question of how to support plant growth in saline conditions.

This thought-provoking project has inspired our young scientists to continue their investigations next year, and we are delighted to have secured a grant from the Royal Society to support this ongoing research.

A fantastic opportunity for our pupils to experience chemistry beyond the classroom and see how scientific research can help tackle real-world challenges.

🌉🚛 Year 10 STEM Bridge Challenge 🚛🌉
Our Year 10 pupils from both Leicester Grammar School and LGS Stoneygate recently joined forces for an exciting STEM Bridge Challenge with the Army Engagement Team.

Working in mixed teams, pupils were tasked with designing and building a portable bridge to precise specifications – with one all-important test: could it support the weight of a remote-control truck? 👷‍♀️📐

The challenge required teamwork, problem-solving, engineering skills and some very careful calculations, with every team embracing the opportunity to collaborate and think creatively under pressure.

It was a fantastic day of hands-on learning and a brilliant insight into the real-world applications of STEM and engineering, as well as one of the many career pathways we encourage our pupils to explore.

A huge thank you to the Army Engagement Team for delivering such an engaging and inspiring experience! 👏
