Surely these wonderful beige snacks are in fact star-shaped mashed potato, ie mashed potato shaped like stars?

Whatever they are, they're certainly not stars shaped like mashed potato. I think we can all agree on this.

Every single tuition session is different. Even if you cover the same objectives, the way each pupil works will be different.

Yesterday, though, something completely and utterly unexpected happened!

A worm came to class, too 😅

I had lots of Christmassy maths and English activities planned, but as soon as I saw the worm and began to hear about it, I knew we had to change the planned tasks…

In the end, we ended up using play dough to make worms, measuring them with rulers. We also read a text about worms and how to look after them. Finally, my pupil wrote about his worm.

While it didn’t go to plan, it was one of my favourite sessions! 🥰 I try to work to a child’s interests when I can as you will usually find that they will engage far better with the tasks.

I’m meeting another one of my new pupils today 😀

I always offer a 30-minute session FREE where we ask questions and generally get to know each other. I discover their likes and dislikes, both in and out of school, their own thoughts about their abilities and we chat about things we can do during our lessons together.

I have a few spaces remaining for my summer school sessions, so please get in touch if you’re keen.

I am also considering running a handful of fun phonics sessions for reception/Year 1 pupils (current year group) if anyone is interested.
