Our topic this term is “People who help us”

We have been learning all about the Police and how they help us. We were so lucky to have Essex Police come and visit us. They told us about their jobs, and we tried on some of their jackets they brought with them. We then went outside to look at the police cars. We were lucky enough to each take it in turns to sit in the cars. At the end of their visit they gave us three knitted police officers for the children to take home and have adventures with.

Thank you Essex Police for a great morning.

This week we have joined in with Earth day & St George’s Day. This gives the children meaningful opportunities to learn about the world around them and their cultural heritage.

We celebrated world Earth day to help the children understand the importance of looking after our planet.

During cooking the children made layered summer truffle. Using red and white to coincide with St George’s Day.

This half term our topic is London and Paddington Bear. We have enjoyed making our own Paddington Bears. During cooking we made honey bear toast. We used our numeral recognition to colour by numbers. For snack we all tried marmalade sandwiches. We listened to stories of Paddington’s adventures and completed Paddington jigsaw puzzles. Over the next few weeks the children will be taking Paddington home and we can’t wait to hear about their adventures together.

It’s beginning to feel very Christmassy at nursery.

Lots of Christmas activities this week.

We have made Father Christmas using various craft materials. In the tuff tray we made snowmen by filling containers. We used language such as full, empty and half full. We made candy canes and learnt about repeated patterns.
We practised our cutting and sticking skills making baubles to hang on our Christmas trees. In our small world play the train track had a dusting of snow we used our imagination whilst navigating the train through the snowy track.

We have also been busy learning our songs for the Christmas nativity. 🎶
