Example Q’s - Non Verbal Reasoning❓(2) ……………

A new post in the example 11+ questions series!

A Non-verbal reasoning example again, from a GL exam paper. You’ll notice the approach is similar across the question styles, even if they are asked differently.

Example Q’s - English❓……………
Part 4 of our series where we’ll be going through an example question and answer from the 11+.

Last of the subjects before we cycle back through and its one of my least favourites, English.

Reason being is because the questions get increasingly tricky and require an extensive vocabulary, on top of strong comprehension skills.

Easiest thing to help with all English Q's in that way is by reading as much as possible!

📚 11+ FAQ’s……………………

Part 6 of the FAQ series where we’ll be looking at actually preparing for the exam.

The easiest and best advice I can give is starting early, which allows you to start easy.

Jumping in at the deep end with a past paper may work for some but will often kill confidence early and make the exam much more intimidating than it is.

Using a wide range of resources is also essential for helping prevent any panic or fluster in the exam because it throws up something unfamiliar.

As always, please feel free to reach out with any Qs or enquiries and be sure to drop a comment if you wanted access to the free resource pack!

Example Q’s - Maths❓……………

Apologies for being MIA but here is part 3 of our series where we’ll be going through an example question and answer from the 11+!

Gone for an easier maths Q to start with and a common type of “early algebra”.

The reversal process seems simple but unfortunately catches out most students as they opt for a “trial and error” approach of swapping in expected answers.

📚 11+ FAQ’s……………………

Part 5 of the FAQ series! Today will be a quick breakdown of the actual timings involved with the 11+ and how that’s split across the exams.

As seen in my previous posts, with the removal of the CEM exam, these timings are related to the GL exam only and will still vary across the country.

The most obvious thing however is that time pressure is a huge element of the 11+.

As always, please feel free to reach out with any Qs or enquiries and keep an eye out for the next part!

Also a big shout out to for the help with this one!

Example Q’s - Verbal Reasoning❓……………

Part 2 of our series where we’ll be going through an example question and answer from the 11+.

Switched it up with a Verbal reasoning example this time. Half of the issue with the VR exam is usually working out what the questions actually asking!

📚 11+ FAQ’s……………………

Part 4 of the FAQ series! Today, we’re covering the actual contents and format of the 11+ exams.

Similar to the last FAQ post, things have recently changed on this front so a lot of unknowns still. The key to prepare in that case is using as many different resources as possible!

As always, please feel free to reach out with any Qs or enquiries and keep an eye out for the next part!

The Science behind revising 📖…………………

A multipart post based off John Dunlosky’s “Strengething the Student Toolbox” paper.

Admittedly a bit dry for source material but can at least be useful! Learning happens throughout life, so might as well learn as effectively as possible.

Keep an eye out for future posts where we’ll go through the methods and their details furthers!
