We have completed our first full week back at preschool and what a fun filled week it has been!
The children took part in various activities exploring our terms topic “all about me”🫶

The children were very creative and made wonderful self portraits on paper plates taking time to look in the mirror at where our hair, eyes, nose and mouth is we also spoke hair and eye colour and about our differences - what makes us all unique individuals!

The children have also been told playing vets looking after our pets in the home corner and nursing them back to health. We spoke about what makes us feel better when we are not well and how could we help the pets. 🏥

On Thursday we celebrated Roald Dahl day and created our very own George’s Marvellous medicine by mixing different ingredients together!
We also had “Willy Wonkas” hot chocolate at snack time! 🍫😊

Reminder that next Thursday 19th September we will be celebrating pirate day at preschool and we welcome children to come in wearing a costume
If they would like too 🏴‍☠️

The children had afternoon tea at snack this week to celebrate national tea day!
We promoted their independence by letting them pour their own drinks and select what they wanted to eat we also spoke about the importance of hot drink safety. ☕️
They created their own cupcakes out of play dough, roll played a tea room in the home corner and used different ingredients in the mud kitchen. The children were very helpful and washed all the pots and pans up afterwards too! 😊
We also celebrated national bee day this week the children made their own buzzing bees using paper plates and paper to glue and stick promoting their fine motor skills. They explored our bee themed tuff tray and water tray and They tasted honey for snack with their fruit which was a big hit! We spoke about the importance of bees and how they help our environment and we even saw some real life bees in the garden 🐝
This week saw number day too! The children were very engaged in the many different number themed activities we had set around the hall and focused on number recondition and counting to 10! 🧮
And on the last day of term the children celebrated national turtle day with a “Tiny Tim” bubble tuff tray which is one of the children’s favourite songs!
They also decorated their own turtle shells and made their very own turtles at snack using kiwi and grapes. Lots of children had very tried kiwi before and was very curious about what the fruit looked like we spoke about it’s fuzzy skin and let the children have a feel 🥝
Reminder that next week is half term and we welcome the children back on Monday 3rd June

What beautiful weather we have had this week! Good timing as we celebrated national sun awareness week at preschool.
The children learned about sun safety and how to protect themselves from the sun and dress appropriately for the weather in our various activities! ☀️🍦
We also spoke and took part in activities about our emotional and feelings - something we promote with the children daily in our setting.
This week we also celebrated national deaf awareness week, the children learned some British sign language greetings and the alphabet too!
Following our children’s interests we had our home corner set out as a restaurant, role playing as chefs and customers!
The children also explored a fun sensory farm tufftray in the garden 😊

Did someone say spa day?!
Our little stars enjoyed a nice relaxing morning at the twinkles spa where we focused on well being and personal care. The children created face masks and had a manicure, role played as receptionist and waited patiently in our waiting area.

We also celebrated earth day which is an annual event observed across the globe to demonstrate support for environmental protection. We took part in activities which helped children understand the importance of environment conservation and sustainability, encouraging us to come together and take action for a healthier planet and brighter future. 🌍🌱

The children dressed up to celebrate St George’s day as royalty and they explored our St George’s day tuff tray, listened to story’s and music, Built castles in our construction corner, made royal crowns and decorated biscuits with the England cross.

We had some great sensory tuff trays that prompted the children’s fine motor skills and to explore different textures such as our bug hunt tuff tray and our free the penguins tuff tray which was in aid of national penguin awareness day.

It was lovely to welcome back all our children this week. We hope you all had a lovely Easter break!
This week the children have been exploring different role play scenarios such as construction and hairdressing. The children used their fine motor skills in our construction tuff tray digging in the soil with our diggers.
The children enjoyed our hair dressing home corner taking turns to be the customers and hairdresser, we had we discussions about different types of hair to highlight the diversity that we have in our lives and to identify our similarities and differences between us as individuals.
The children was able to practice their cutting skills during our expressive art and design activities this week cutting the hair on our toilet roll heads 😊

🌟 Reminder: Next Tuesday we invite the children to come in dressed up to celebrate St George’s day - A day in England which we celebrate Christian Saint George, who is also the patron saint of England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
