And just like that… our Oasby Music Group Summer Strings Workshop has come to an end! 💫

A huge congratulations to all our young musicians for an incredible final day - from fantastic chamber music work to a beautiful performance of Elgar’s Serenade for Strings. What a way to finish! ❤️

Here’s an extract of our Minims ensemble performing a beautiful arrangement of Thinking Out Loud as part of our end of year Ensembles Sharing.

From Mendelssohn to modern pop, movies to musical theatre, we love giving our young musicians the chance to explore a wide range of music while developing their ensemble skills.

🎻In just one month, the Oasby Music Group Summer Strings Workshops will be underway🎉

There’s still time to register and join us for three inspiring days of music-making in Lincolnshire this August.

Whether you’re just starting your string-playing journey (with at least one term of lessons) or studying at diploma level, there’s a course designed for you. Across the workshops, you’ll enjoy:

🎶 String orchestra & chamber music
🎻 Technique classes
🎼 Musicianship sessions
🥁 Rhythm workshops
✨ Individual / group lessons

You’ll also have the opportunity to work with an outstanding team of guest tutors and the OMG team, making this a fantastic opportunity to develop your playing, meet other young string players and make music together.

A fantastic first ensemble performance from our Quavers and Semiquavers! 🎻💙

Our youngest musicians shared a brilliant performance of Go Tell Aunt Rhody at our End of Year Ensembles Sharing. For many of these young players, this was their very first ensemble performance and we couldn’t be prouder! 🌟

And can you spot the big kids standing at the back? 👀 Some of our older players were once sitting exactly where these youngsters are now... proof that everyone starts somewhere, and it’s so special to watch them grow in confidence year after year.

We love seeing our musicians support one another and celebrating just how far they’ve all come. ❤️

What a wonderful way to end another incredible year of music-making at Oasby Music Group! 🎻✨

At our final rehearsal of the year, we were delighted to invite families in to hear what our ensembles have been working on, and what a performance it was!

🎶 Our Quavers & Semiquavers shared Little Dances Nos. 1 & 2 and Suzuki – Go Tell Aunt Rhody.
🎶 Two brand new violin quartets made their debut with music by Dancla, Susato and Charpentier.
🎶 Our Minims ensemble dazzled with the first movement of Mendelssohn’s String Symphony No. 5, alongside music by Brian Balmages, Alan Menken and even Ed Sheeran!

We closed our sharing with a deeply personal and heartfelt performance of For Good from Wicked, dedicated to our wonderful Year 13 leavers. 💚

We are so proud of every single one of our young musicians. Watching their confidence, teamwork and musicianship grow throughout the year is a privilege, and this sharing was a celebration of everything they have achieved.

A huge thank you to our fantastic music team who have worked with us throughout the year – Rowan, Rosie, Erin, Rachel and Sarah – for your dedication, encouragement and endless support. I really couldn’t do it without you. ❤️

Thank you also to all of our wonderful families, and especially Hannah, for giving up your time each rehearsal to supervise everyone at break time and help everything run so smoothly.

Another amazing year comes to a close, but we can’t wait for Summer Strings… and there’s still time to sign up! ☀️🎻

🌟Amelia and Isaac🌟

As the school year ends, we say goodbye to our Year 13s...except we never really do because they always find their way back to OMG.

But today feels especially significant as we celebrate Isaac and Amelia – the final two original Oasbies to fly the nest. They are the children who named OMG, and who began this incredible 14-year journey.

I’ve had the privilege of watching them grow from young children taking their very first violin lessons into extraordinary young adults. We’ve shared countless rehearsals, concerts, competitions and adventures. With their wonderful violin quartet, we travelled the length of the country, they became National Chamber Music Champions, and had incredible opportunities to work with some of the world’s greatest musicians, including Nicola Benedetti, Tasmin Little and Wynton Marsalis.

🎻 Isaac…from the moment I met you, you were a bundle of energy, joy and charisma. You lived and breathed music, and I don’t think anyone who met you at four years old would be surprised that you’re now heading to the Royal College of Music to study violin. Watching you grow into such a kind, thoughtful and generous young man has made me so incredibly proud. I can’t wait to see where your music takes you.

🩺 Amelia…I honestly don’t have the words. For nearly 14 years, we’ve seen each other almost every week! From the first time you picked up a violin, I knew you were destined to do wonderful things - not just because of your talent, but because of the person you are. Kind, compassionate, selfless and quietly brilliant. I am so proud of you. I know you’ll make an exceptional doctor, and I have no doubt your violin will continue to be part of your future.

People often ask what the best part of teaching is. It’s this. Watching children grow into extraordinary adults.

Thank you, Amelia and Isaac, for everything you’ve given to OMG over the past 14 years - for your music, your friendship, your kindness and for being such an important part of the OMG story.

While today marks the end of one chapter, it certainly isn’t goodbye!

Once an Oasby, always an Oasby! 🩷

🎻What a fantastic OMG Summer Concert! ✨

A huge congratulations to all of our amazing young musicians who performed today. Your hard work and dedication in the lead-up to the concert really paid off, and you should all be incredibly proud!

One of the best things about OMG is the camaraderie and the way our musicians support one another. It was wonderful to see our older players encouraging the younger ones, both with their playing and their football skills on the playground(!).

A huge thank you to Rowan for accompanying everyone so brilliantly as always, and to all of our wonderful parents for helping everything run so smoothly behind the scenes.

Well done, everyone - we’re so proud of you all!💜
