You tell yourself you just want to get a bit stronger. That feels like enough. That was Rob when he first walked into Field House.
Rob had already put in eight years across a couple of functional fitness style gyms before joining us. Solid training, no question, but he wanted more of a strength focus, something that would carry over onto the rugby pitch.
That’s exactly what we built together: training tailored to his goals, so nothing in a session was wasted.
Since then, Rob has hit personal bests across the board: 170kg deadlift, 160kg back squat, 130kg front squat, 100kg bench, 95kg push press, and a 180kg hip thrust. Over the last six months alone, he’s added real muscle mass too.
Rob feels the difference every time he’s on the pitch: stronger through contact, quicker to recover, and this year his team mates voted him player of the year.
He’s already tested himself competing in Metrix with a big group of the FHF crew, and now he’s got his sights on ATH-X.
“Going to the gym for me is about constant progression,” Rob says. “Making sure I keep tailoring what I’m doing to my goals, increasing my strength for rugby and general continuous improvement.”
If you recognise yourself in where Rob started, that’s probably worth paying attention to. We’re based in Grantham, small group personal training built around you. Message us to find out more.
