Recently, we introduced a special Road Safety tuff-tray for our babies to explore. Using taped-out roadways, wooden vehicles, road signs, trees and buildings, the babies were encouraged to move the cars along the roads and begin to make simple connections about travel and the world around them.

We also shared the story “Where’s Mrs Car?”, linking our play to early literacy and helping the babies match pictures to the objects in front of them.

The babies were highly engaged rolling, pushing, and navigating their cars around the roads with great concentration. A lovely introduction to being safe in our community through meaningful play.

26th November….

Today the in the Baby Room the babies enjoyed a festive sensory activity. They explored a tray set up with cotton pads arranged in the shape of a Santa hat, along with shaving foam to create the fluffy trim. The babies used pipettes to pick up and drip red paint onto the cotton pads, watching the colour gently soak in.

They were very focused as they squeezed the pipettes, dipped them into the paint, and added splashes of colour to the Santa hat. Many also explored the soft, foamy texture with their hands, showing lots of curiosity and enjoyment.

We ended the activity by looking at the book “That’s Not My Santa”.

Just when you thought parenting couldn’t get any harder…..the Elf arrived!!!

🍂 Autumn Sensory Exploration in the Baby Room 🎃

This week in the Baby Room, the babies have been engaging in a delightful autumn-themed sensory activity. The tuff tray was set up with a variety of natural materials including straw, sand, and an assortment of colourful pumpkins.

The babies explored the different textures, shapes, and sizes, using their hands to lift, roll, and stack the pumpkins. They also enjoyed experimenting with the wooden ring stands, which supported their fine motor development and hand–eye coordination.

This activity provided opportunities for the children to:
• Develop sensory awareness through touch and exploration
• Strengthen fine motor and coordination skills
• Engage in early problem-solving
• Build curiosity and confidence through independent play

It was wonderful to see the babies so engaged, curious, and enthusiastic as they explored the sights and textures of autumn. 🍁
