We are going to be at Dobiefest in June, are you coming for a day out?

It's not just for those with Doberman dogs it's for all dog lovers.

So why are we going? Well it is being held at Arena UK in Allington, so it's only just around the corner from us.

We will be there to let everyone know about the Dog Adventure Centre, what it is we do there and how we aim to help dogs and their owners have a happier more balanced life.

Also we will be spreading the word about the importance of pet owners and pet professionals knowing pet/canine first aid and how it can not only save you a few pennies (or £'s), but also how it could save your dog or pets life in the most of extreme cases.

We will be doing CPR and bandaging demo's throughout the day both in the main arena and from our stand.

It would be great to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones.

HOT WEATHER ALERT ⚠️

The weather is getting very warm for the bank holiday weekend, please keep your pets safe by following these guidelines from the BVA

Make sure all pets always have access to fresh water to drink, adequate ventilation and shade from direct sunlight at all times. Provide them with a cool mat and fan indoors.

Don’t exercise dogs in the hottest parts of the day: especially older dogs, overweight dogs, flat-faced breeds or dogs that you know have heart or lung problems. Stick to early morning or late evening walks.

Do the five-second tarmac test before taking a dog out for a walk- put your palm flat on the tarmac for five seconds, and if it feels too hot for you, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws.

Never leave dogs in vehicles. If you see a dog in distress inside a hot car, call 999.

Watch out for early signs of heatstroke, such as heavy panting, drooling, restlessness, bright red or very pale gums, and lack of coordination. If you suspect your dog has heatstroke or any other heat-related condition, take it to a cool, well-ventilated place, give it small amounts of cold water to drink, and pour cold water over it to cool it down. Seek immediate advice from your vet

We have a pet/canine first aid course running Sun 17th May.

This course is designed for pet owners and pet care professionals alike. The course runs 10am-2:30pm, so feel free to bring lunch to eat, tea & coffee will be available.

Learn basic skills to give you the confidence to deal with the more common occurances you might encounter and the essential skills to get your injured/unwell pet to the vet in the best possible condition.
