Students returned to West Grantham Secondary Academy today to collect their much-anticipated GCSE results, marking a proud moment for the school community.

The academy is celebrating another excellent year of GCSE outcomes, with pupils making broadly above-average progress and achieving results that reflect their hard work, determination and commitment throughout their studies.

Amongst those achieving excellent results was Srihari Manimaran who gained 9s in chemistry, further maths, maths and physics, alongside distinctions in business studies and engineering. He also celebrates 8s and 7s in biology, English and English literature. In September, Srihari will continue his studies at The Kings School with A levels in maths, further maths, economics and chemistry. He thanked all staff for their “help and support and for pushing me further.”

Kloe Riley and Mina Popescu were both celebrating their excellent results today, with both achieving the highest grades in all subjects. Kloe thanked “all staff for being there and pushing me” whilst Mina, who is going on to study A-levels in psychology, sociology, politics and English literature at KGGS said “the perseverance and support that the school provided for me will never be forgotten.”

Hedwin Ajesh gained superb grades across the board including 9s and 8s in biology, chemistry, maths and physics. His next steps are to study chemistry, physics, maths and economics at The Kings School. He thanked all the staff at “this wonderful school for listening and being kind.”

Notable improvements were made in subjects such as English, history, hospitality and construction, showing that West Grantham is supporting the learning of all its students in both academic and vocational subjects.

Executive Principal, Clare Barber, said, “I am immensely proud of the Y11s and the impressive outcomes as a result of their hard work, resilience and determination.”

Clare also praised staff and parents/carers for their dedication to what she describes as a “wonderful, all-inclusive school that continues to go from strength-to-strength.”

Year 8 textiles students have been exploring the textiles techniques of embroidery, applique and tie dye. Influenced by textiles designer Holly Levell, the students have created cushions of their favourite snacks and drinks. Well done year 8 - your designs are fantastic!
