There’s just so much to be explored in this big wide world 🥰

Today we took our Gruffalo Autumn Nature Trail book on our walk. We used it to match leaves by colour and our older friend helped me try to identify some of the leaf names too. We spoke about the fact that if Oak leaves are dropping in this area, this will be where we can find acorns later in the year 🌳🌰

We also found sycamore seeds, a couple of ladybirds 🐞 some mushrooms 🍄‍🟫 and lots of berries which we used our book to identify 📕

Second week into September and the snotty noses have already started 🙈🦠

We don’t exclude for colds but please take your little one and their friends into consideration when deciding if they’re well enough to attend. Some of our friends are younger and therefore have a less developed immune system. Let’s all do our part to make sure everyone stays well ☺️

Autumn cabin is a hit 💥I don’t think there’s a single basket or activity that didn’t get played with today 🥰 We had an afternoon session in there whilst our youngest friend had their nap in the house with Sonia 💤

Today we have had fun making some beautiful Autumn trees 🤩🍁🌳🍂

On yesterday’s walk the children were enjoying collecting leaves and popping them in the basket of the buggy. We were also excited to find some sycamore seeds! We immediately recognised these from our action cube and decided to collect some of them too. One child wanted to take a few leaves home which they did and I said we’d find something to do with the rest 🍂

We have an abundance of cardboard again and I remembered this idea we had done 2 years ago. So last night I cut out some trees but didn’t add the tape until I’d checked with the children if they’d like to make a tree this morning 🌳 It was a very big, excitable “yes!”. Leaves were selected from the table and carefully placed on their pictures. One child noticed they’d stuck some upside down and wanted to “fix” this. Luckily they weren’t stuck on too hard so they were able to flip them over. Other children noticed and decided they’d like to lift and move some of their leaves and sycamore seeds until they were happy with their creations 🥰

Our smallest friend even had a go, they haven’t expressed much interest in this style of activity before so this was very exciting to see ☺️

A lovely, soggy outing with our little friends ☺️ We took our Autumn action cube which everyone seemed to really enjoy 🐿️🍁🦔 Their favourite was spin around like a sycamore seed but some of us got very dizzy and would fall down 🙈
We also stopped to read a story along the way - Superworm! 🪱

Another thing I’ve made this week is this template for our action cube which we’ll be taking on our woodland walks 🍁🐿️🍂🦔 I made the cube using cardboard and a hot glue gun 📦
