Hi folks!

Firstly, a thank you if you've gotten in touch with me about lessons over the last year or so, and apologies if I've not managed to get back to you.

For approx 18 months I've been teaching guitar full time in schools, and that has left me with very little time for private lessons.

It has also meant that my ukulele courses and workshops have sadly had to stop.

Currently, I have very little time to offer so am only considering taking on students at an advanced level.

If you're looking for some help with the higher grades, college/university prep/support, applied theory or some other aspect of guitar work then drop me a line.

Hi folks!
This is a quick "off-the-cuff" lesson on chord voicings to spice up your blues rhythm guitar.
You can be quite creative with your chords in blues and all the best players have a few ways to play 7th, 9th & 13th chords up their sleeves.
Knowing more chords also means you know more sweet notes to target when you're playing lead 😊

Country Songs on the Guitar £20

6.30pm to 8.30pm

For those who have completed an improvers course or are at a similar stage in their learning. This workshop will teach you how to play a selection of common country guitar strumming, single note and finger picking patterns.

Perform a bass strum pattern
Perform a single note riff or bass run
Perform a fingerpicking pattern
This workshop will take place in a friendly group atmosphere. It will introduce learners to performing country music on the guitar. It is not aimed at complete beginners so will require some previous experience.

Advancing on the Ukulele

Online course £20 (2 x 2 hour sessions)

Tuesday 9th and 16th November 2021

6.30pm to 8.30pm

A fun and friendly Workshop where you will learn how to perform a selection of more challenging chords and strumming techniques for the ukulele.

Perform a barre chord
Perform left hand muting
Perform right hand muting
Perform “Boom-chick” strumming
For those who have been playing for some time and would like to keep improving. This course will assume that you can hold and tune your ukulele and can already play some common chords and strum along to songs. Ability to read ukulele tab will be essential to engage with the written music. You will learn some advanced right and left-hand techniques to improve your ukulele skills.

A fun, friendly and inclusive course where you learn the basics of ukulele playing to perform songs on the ukulele.

Hold the ukulele correctly
Strum chords in time to a beat
Perform chord changes in time
Strum along to a selection of simple songs
Use a strumming pattern with up & down strokes
Identify how the movement of both hands in a coordinated way helps distract the brain
Identify how the repetitive movement and hand positioning helps lower anxiety

It's been a while since my last update on here so apologies for that! I wanted to check in to let you all know that face to face courses will be returning in the upcoming term! :)

I've got dates lined up for Ukulele courses with Hampshire libraries for both face to face and online courses, starting from late September.
