Yesterday, six of our Year 10 students had the pleasure of meeting Neil Jarrett from Sunrise Chimney Sweeps Ltd to be interviewed for a work experience placement.
Neil conducted the sessions as formal interviews, asking thoughtful and engaging questions that gave our students a genuine insight into the recruitment process. All six students represented themselves brilliantly, were well-presented, engaged positively throughout and asked some excellent questions of their own.
This was fantastic preparation for next year when our students move into Year 11 and begin applying and interviewing for employment, college courses, apprenticeships and sixth form opportunities.
A huge well done to all the students involved. You should be incredibly proud of yourselves – your confidence, professionalism and questions were outstanding.
We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Neil for providing such a meaningful experience. Not only did he give our students a real taste of what a job interview is like, but he also provided detailed and constructive feedback for each student, which will be discussed with them individually to support their future development.
Thank you, Neil, for taking the time to visit our school and for sharing your expertise and industry experience with our students. Opportunities like these are invaluable and help prepare our young people for their next steps.

After tackling the complexities of distance and velocity-time graphs showing true courage in a paired activity, the class stepped up to the challenge of our acceleration required practical. They showed incredible resilience, supported one another, and worked as a true team to get the job done.
