Last week, Mrs. Hooper organised a fantastic "push and pull" activity in our Dolphin Room (Babies aged 9m - 18m). ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš—

The children had a blast with push-and-go cars, sending them down a ramp in the garden, and pulling bags of toys around, even dragging cuddly toys behind them using a scarf. ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿงธ

Our children have demonstrated a strong affinity for circle time and the stories our grown-ups have been reading. Over the past fortnight, our "over and over" books, "Dear Zoo" and "Brown Bear, Brown Bear," have captivated their attention. They have actively participated in listening and engaging with these stories, utilizing props to accurately associate animals with the narrative. This engagement has extended beyond the nursery focused time, as they have independently re-enacted circle time scenarios with their peers in session and their families at home too! ๐Ÿ“š

Over the past two weeks, during our bird watching activities, the children have had the wonderful opportunity to explore the diverse sounds, colors, and unique characteristics of various birds. They have creatively used colorful feathers and glue to adorn bird templates, crafting beautiful birds for our indoor trees. Furthermore, the children were able to feed birds outdoors with birdseed and observe them through binoculars in the garden. Indoors, they engaged in making bird feeders using cereal and pipe cleaners, demonstrating excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as they threaded the cereal. These feeders were then hung in the outdoor trees for the enjoyment of birds and squirrels alike. The children also delighted in creating their own chocolate bird nests using shredded wheat and melted chocolate. They enthusiastically used their hands to crush the shredded wheat, and then poured, mixed, scooped, and placed their nests into cake cases, finally selecting a wafer bird to nestle in the center. Throughout these adult-led activities, the children have shown remarkable attentiveness to instructions and a commendable "can-do" attitude.

In the Pre-School we have been further exploring the childrenโ€™s interest in living creatures, and with today being โ€˜World Snake Dayโ€™ we were very fortunate to be able to explore a real life snake skin, which had shedded from Mrs Pickthallโ€™s cornsnake called Fluffy! We could see the eyes, nose, scales, mouth and tail. We even had the opportunity to watch a short video of Fluffy moving around her vivarium! We then explored lots of information books to gain further knowledge and understanding about snakes, their habitat and how they grow from snakelet to snake! Interesting factโ€ฆDid you know not all snakes lay eggs?

This week our Sponsored Bear Hunt event took place, where the Dolphin, Nursery and Pre-School children took on great bravery and skills to accomplish our very own โ€˜Weโ€™re Going on a Bear Huntโ€™ obstacle course, going through; the swishy swashy grass, the deep cold river, the thick oozy mud, a big dark forest, a swirling whirling snowstorm, untilโ€ฆthey finally reached a narrow gloomy cave. To find a ๐Ÿป not just any ordinary bear. A kind bear, that gives the best hugs!

A ๐—•๐—œ๐—š well done to all the children, who took part. You did an amazing job ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ
