Another fabulous Get Stuff Done Day.
Participants left feeling less stressed, more confident, satisfied and more aware of what resources and supports them to get stuff done.
I love these days.
When asked what worked they said:
* Accountability
*sharing the frustration and achievements with people that care
*time frames
*knowing the dates are in the diary and I know ‘when’ I will get stuff done.
Learnings
Some projects were bigger and more complex than they first expected and left with awareness of the importance and need to have a plan.
Others learned to speak more kindly to themselves when things took longer than they would like.
Some learned to listen to their body and pace themselves.
What helps you get stuff done?

Are you working more and more hours and yet still never feeling on top of things?
When you are working more hours than you would like, one strategy I use with my clients is to map out and unpack what is happening when you are working well. This often helps identifies choice points. For some it is often a case of remembering what they know works but under pressure they had defaulted to old patterns and for others it is about recognising how one small change of behaviour can have a massive impact.
These kind of insights can for many provide hope and a sense of choice and agency.
I love that two clients have now stopped feeling they 'have to' work evenings and weekends' and now they work their set hours, get the job done well and now have time to for a social life which is supporting their mental well-being.
When was the last time you reviewed what you need to work at your best?

Success without Stress
I remember telling someone a few years back this was the name of my weekly stress management update with coaching questions, stories and strategies and they responded with "Why wouldn't you want stress?"
It took me back a bit at first.
But they were right, there is a certain amount of stress required to make change but it should never be so much stress that you lose sight of your worth, your value or what time of day it is.
Stress and state management are part of knowing yourself well and knowing what works for you and what doesn't helps you make informed decisions.
But it also means that when you cannot have what you need to be at your best, you will have a better understanding of why you think, feel and behave the way you do and that gives you choice.
So strictly speaking it is success without so much stress but that doesn't sound so good does it?
However, it is my intention to reduce stress by clarifying what success is like for you and by helping you have confidence in what you need to make the changes.
It is more about knowing what is stressing you and practical ways to reduce or eradicated it.
What do you think of the name? All feedback welcome.

As we prepare for the Get Stuff Done Day this weekend.
We all start with writing down our to do list and getting everything out of our head.
Now not all of those things will get done this weekend but what this process does do is ensure all those little tasks whirring around in your head taking up valuable bandwidth are heard. Then you can consciously choose what is your priority for the time available.
I personally love a to do list, but for some writing a list can evoke all kinds of emotions including overwhelm and frustration. For some it can even trigger a stress response of fight, flight or freeze.
What about you?
Do you love a to do list?
If you don't use lists, what works for you instead?

Having spent most of your life creating space for others, have you reached a point in your life when you are now starting to wonder, "When will I have time for the things I want to do?"
You are not alone.
I have worked with thousands of individuals that struggle to advocate for what they want and whilst many are unique in the reasons why this is happening, the solution is often the same.
All too often our decision making model does not include what we want and what we need to be at our best. For some that is because they have never known it and for others they simply lost sight of what worked because they stopped listening to their own needs and prioritised the needs of others.
Lacking clarity of what you want and not having confidence in your own unique way of being in the world, can impact every decision you make and like many of my clients you may then prioritise the needs of others simply because you understand their needs better than your own.
For some this can be habitual behaviour and for others it was born from trauma or fear. Many are not even consciously aware they are doing it.
When you model how you make good decisions and you become curious about what would be happening if you were working, learning and living at your best, you have the opportunity to gain the insights and review what is working and what is not working.
Then you can identify choice points where you can experiment with one small change and step by step you start to learn how to make space for YOU in YOUR life.
You can start today by thinking about:
A good decision for you is like what?
What happens just before a good decision?
What happens after a good decision?

Do you ever crave quiet time to think, reflect, decide and plan?
Perhaps you struggle to find the time or the right space when juggling work and life?
Maybe you have the time and the space, but the ‘thing’ you have to think about, ‘the decision’ that has to be made, is so overwhelming that the minute you let yourself start the process you almost as quickly distract yourself with something that keeps you busy. Maybe consciously or unconsciously you prioritise something else that gives you a sense of satisfaction or achievement. Something that feels less uncomfortable.
As I wander around my home and check every space is ready to welcome our clients today, I recall so many of the life changing decisions clients have made in this space.
So this will be me for the next 8 hours. Creating the space and conditions for honest and helpful conversations that inspire change and ensure the individual leaves with clarity and confidence in their next best step.
I absolutely love unravelling what is holding people back and celebrating with them as they acknowledge the stress leaving their body.
What’s your plans today ?

Feeling stuck, frustrated and overwhelmed.
More and more I am working with clients who do not feel safe to speak up and say that what is being expected is too much. They assume they are the problem and that everyone else is managing just fine.
More often than not, the struggles are happening for others but like them they are being well hidden and invisible. Team members are diligently filling out timesheets with what they did with their time 9am to 5pm but there is no where to put that they worked all weekend or until midnight most nights.
A few months back I worked with someone that was working evenings and weekends to feel on top of things. As we started to unpack their process and what is happening when they were doing this particular job well, they identified some choice points where they could do things differently which gave them so much more confidence in their own unique way of working and saved them time.
They also asked colleagues they trusted what worked for them and discovered that the way other people worked didn't suit them but it did give them some ideas of some things they could try.
That also started the process of being okay with being different which led to a conversation with their line manager about what they needed to be at their best which was supported.
Now that is not always the case and sometimes clients realise they are not in the environment to bring the best out of them and they do change jobs.
But mostly they discover quite quickly what is in their control and that has a massive impact.
Two sessions later this particularly person was reporting that they no longer work evenings and weekends. This means they now have time for a social life which means they feel more supported and that also contributes to working at their best.
Now I can't guarantee that everyone will stop working weekends and evenings that quickly and sometimes working weekends and evenings is the how we work at our best.
The first step is making the decision and having clarity of what you really want and that is not always easy when you are exhausted, overwhelmed and lack the capacity to think. That is where coaching can help. Having someone present as you unpack your thinking can help you put things in order and perspective.
Clients often say after their first session, I feel lighter, more positive and like there is hope.
When you are working at your best and things are going well, how many hours do you work? What is the impact on living at your best?
If these are the kind of questions you are curious about then let's chat.

Sick and Tired Of Being Sick and Tired ?
No matter how much you want something to change there is often that messy and uncomfortable part between where you are now and where you want to be.
It can evoke all kinds of emotions thoughts, fears and doubts and in the busyness of life you might do your best to push them aside but then the niggles keep coming back. Repeating this process over and over can be exhausting and eventually leave you feeling under resourced.
If you have you heard yourself think or say, you need time to think and yet you fail to give yourself that time.
Then I want to let you know we have 3 spaces left on this month's Clarity and Confidence Retreat.
27th Sept 25 9.30am to 5.30pm for just £197. Lunch and snacks provided.

Stepping back to step forward.
I made the conscious decision to step back from social media in May 2023 and have enjoyed not having to think of things to say each and every day.
I had got so sick of it all that I actually thought I wanted to retire but it did not take long to realise that what I really wanted to retire from was the marketing/selling/pitching and not the coaching and supporting.
The whole thing had wiped me out so much that I completely forgot why I was posting in the first place.
It was only when I started to model what might be happening if I were to retire well, that I discovered I would still want to share content on social media if I was retired. That I would want to still write my Success without Stress updates and I would want to continue to write and publish resources and books.
I also found myself imagining myself still networking and wanting to support other entrepreneurs and young parents all without the pressure or agenda to generate new business.
This realisation made me realise that networking, social media and marketing were not the problem. The problem was more about how I was measuring if it was worth my time.
I got sucked into the algorithm wars and started to feel like I was talking to myself and it hit my confidence when I was not getting the engagement, shares or comments that I assumed came if you were putting out good content and so I assumed my content was not good enough.
Whilst I am not yet ready to post as frequently as before, and I am definitely not feeling a draw to do videos, I am now feeling more able and willing to find time to share what I am noticing, what I am learning and what my clients are teaching me.
I have been self-employed 26 years this year.
My first born was 30 this year.
I have experienced divorce, death and the challenges of bringing a blended family of five children together.
What would you like to know?

Is Summer’s slower for you or not?
For some they find themselves less customer facing work. But of course that depends on your industry and your family commitments.
One thing is sure in the UK anyway the days are longer and the lighter nights and early mornings certainly give me a sense of more time.
So I am wondering if like me, it is time for you to write your book?
If your client focus quietens down and your schedule loosens a little... This might be the perfect moment to finally focus on that book you’ve been meaning to write.
Of course as Karen says there is never the perfect time to write but there can be perfect times to make a commitment to it.
Karen Williams — aka The Book Karen Williams, The Book Mentor - Librotasor — has created something brilliantly doable: a 6-week Smart Author Summer Writing Sprint designed to help you make real progress without it taking over your life.
✔️ 4 live writing sessions a week (join when you can)
✔️ A live AI-writing workshop
