This page has been tested on animals, they thought the page was fab! Although one monkey, who wishes to remain anonymous, did comment that him and 999 of his mates have been in a room for a year and are still yet to write the works of Shakespeare. What he thinks that has to do with my creative page I will never know. No oranges, tangerines, satsumas or any other juicy fruit come to think of it, were harmed in the making of this page.

New September Workshop 🎨

At Elson Community Library & Hub, Gosport.

£40 per person. All materials provided. Expert Tuition. Open to all abilities. Absolute beginners welcome (postivley encouraged ☺️). Fun, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Ongoing support.

Some of you lovely regulars may notice a change to my usual workshop flyers. It's something that I have been meaning to do for years and I have no idea why I haven't done it before. Need a clue? Here are three words:

See it now, or actually don't see it now? The flyer contains the image of a photo and not a completed artwork.

Great photos rarely make great artworks

When we work from one of my completed artworks of a real place as the reference I have already added, moved, removed things from my photos that I have used to create the artwork. Often i will work from multiple photos to create one artwork. Which means that you are missing an important step for creating art.

So we will be working from my photos of Portsmouth Harbour/Portchester Lake taken from Monks Walk Gosport. I will bring my completed artwork to the workshop, but it wont be revealed until the end 😁

Ooo I nearly forgot to mention. I was inspired to create this workshop by a painting that is being created by art club member Christine Joice of an Asian sunset and a lady that I met for the first time yesterday,at the art club, enquiring about my September workshop 😊

As I said this is a brand new site and like all brand new sites it is still growing, like an oak seed that is just sprouting. If a Wood Cuck could chuck wood,
How much wood could a Wood Chuck chuck, if a Wood Chuck could chuck wood?

The Fab thing about acrylics is that pretty much anything can be your canvas. And had the Wood Chuck realised this, it wouldn't chuck wood even if it could chuck wood. It would have painted a beautiful artwork on it just like my fab four ladies did 🎨

If a Wood Chuck could paint wood, how much wood... 😁

All four of the wood slice paintings turned out absolutely amazing, I think that you'll agree when you look at the pics. Made me proud they did 🤗

Also amongst the pics are two artworks from the July pen and Brusho watercolour workshop. When I created the original post I added the wrong names to a couple of the paintings. Pat's was right, Malcolm's was wrong. However they both continued to enhance their artworks at home so I have added both artworks, with the right names, to today's post.

Talking of adding names to artworks, you will notice that the wood slice artworks don't have names to the artworks. The artists are aware that this would happen, I mentioned in the workshop that by the time that I created this post I would forget who painted which one... At least I'm honest 😁

Something to brighten up your Monday Morning, and it's not the sun 🌞

Well actually, thinking about it, it kind of is the sun. Not this morning's sunshine, but four artworks of the evening 'Sunset Over Bastion No1' from Saturdays Brusho watercolour workshop 😊🎨

This was a really relaxed, bright and fun workshop at Elson Community Library & Hub , I really enjoyed it and I hope that Kathy, Debs, Pat & Malcolm did too.

I think that you will agree that every painting came out amazingly, did me proud they did 🤗

I absolutely love Brusho watercolours, the intensity of the colours brings a smile to my face every time that I use them. I think I'm addicted to them 😅. And they bring an even bigger smile to my face when I witness students using them for the first time. So if you are sad that you missed out this time, you can be sure that I will be visiting Brusho again in a future workshop.

Can't wait for the next Brusho workshop? Well you are in luck as I have a few spaces left on my acrylic wood slice workshop in August (flyer in photos).

Thursday Art Club Notice

Thursday Art Club, 25th June, will be running as usual.

I appreciate, as I sit here melting in the official record breaking hottest place in the UK today, that members may wish not to attend due to the heat and humidity.

Please do not worry about letting me know if you choose not to attend. I am fully expecting a low turnout due to the unusual weather conditions.

My weekly Art Clubs run twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays at Elson Community Library & Hub . I also run art Workshops, which are open to all abilities, generally once a month on a Monday or Saturday also at held at Elson Community Library & Hub

At present both of my Elson Art Clubs are full. If you are interested in joining please still do let me know as I keep a waiting list.

The next available workshop is on Monday 15th June 2026. Workshop details attached to this post. There are a few spaces left. It's going to be a fun one!

Acrylic flower painting on a wood slice for either the home or garden 🏡

Join me, Al Warner, on my fun, friendly & relaxed workshop at Elson Library, Gosport and learn how to create your very own wood slice garden art using my artwork pictured as reference.

During this fun workshop, I will guide you with tips, tricks and techniques to create your very own wood slice flower artwork. Including how to prep the wood and how to protect your wood slice artwork from the elements so that it can be safely displayed outside.

You are more than welcome to paint your flowers any colour that you wish. I will also be bringing circular canvases in case you would rather paint on those.

You will leave my workshop with your very own wood slice artwork along with the confidence and knowledge to continue creating at home 😊

Note: I will also bring canvases (hopefully circular, but can't promise) to the workshop if you would prefer to paint on those.
