Earlier this year, our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils dived into an exciting topic: rivers. They created some truly outstanding homework projects that showcased their research skills, and a real passion for learning.
We were also delighted to welcome a special visitor who delivered an engaging rivers workshop. The children took part in an interactive assembly where they explored the different parts of a river, discovered where various wildlife can be found, and learned how human-made features appear along a river’s course.
The following day, pupils examined real samples taken from the River Meon. They identified the tiny life forms living within the water and used their findings to assess the river’s health. It was a fantastic hands-on experience that brought their classroom learning to life.

As promised, here is our first look back at some of the wonderful learning that has taken place this year.
Back after Christmas, our fantastic Year 1 children were hard at work planning how they could help Santa make some healthier choices after enjoying a few too many mince pies. They explored how appealing different fruits look, and—most importantly—taste‑tested them themselves to decide which combinations would make the ultimate fruit salad for Santa.
The children also learned some brilliant chopping skills and practised how to use equipment safely and sensibly. Word on the street is that Santa was very grateful for the delicious and healthy recommendations from Peel Common’s Year 1 superstars.

Our Year 6 children have been busy putting their entrepreneurial skills to the test! 💷✨
Working in small groups, each team was given a £5 budget and challenged to come up with a business idea, create products to sell, and make a profit. They have worked incredibly hard planning, designing, making and marketing their products.
We would love to invite the Year 6 parents and carers to come along and support our young entrepreneurs by visiting their stalls and purchasing some of their fantastic creations at 1:45 tomorrow.
Then the rest of KS2 are invited to come along and buy so please send them in with some pennies to spend
We look forward to seeing you there and thank you for supporting our Year 6 enterprise project! 🎉

Please give your child £1 to give to their class teacher in the morning
Thank you

First summer Fayre for Peel Common Primary school and the first for the new PTFA and we were so over whelmed by the amount of families that came, thank you so much again for the amazing support.
Our students and their families never fail to amaze us with their support for the school.
The Fayre was a huge success and I don’t think there was a time that a stall wasn’t busy.
Drum roll please…. We made a massive profit of £1043.15
The PTFA have had an idea of something we’d like to spend the money on which will benefit all the children and this amazing profit will now allow that to happen… watch this space!
Again Thank you
