At Lynn Grove Academy, we often talk about our school ethos and what it means to be part of the Lynn Grove community. This year has truly been a year where we have seen our values brought to life.
We are a community - This year, over 600 pupils took part in our annual Community Day, visiting care homes, delivering gifts to our neighbours, collecting litter in local parks and helping to create play spaces for pupils at our local primary schools.Our Year 7 pupils created Christmas cards for members of our community, while our Senior Year Prefects visited a local care home with gifts they had spent weeks fundraising for through their charitable efforts. These acts of kindness and service demonstrate the very best of what it means to be part of Lynn Grove Academy.
We put learning at the heart - On Thursday, selected pupils attended our annual Principal's Garden Party, where their academic achievements were celebrated with an afternoon tea shared with family members and staff. It was a wonderful occasion, made even more special by a visit from former pupil and Olympic medallist, Sophie McKinna, who shared her inspiring journey and encouraged our pupils to continue striving for success.
We persevere - Our Senior Year pupils, who recently left us, have been exceptional role models for our younger students. They have shown what it means to work hard, stay focused and keep going even when challenges arise. Whether it has been preparing for exams, attending after-school intervention sessions, or balancing the many demands of school life, they have demonstrated resilience and determination throughout. A huge congratulations to our Senior Year pupils, we look forward to celebrating with you again on Results Day.
We are kind to each other and ourselves - Pupil leadership is deeply rooted at Lynn Grove Academy and we are proud to have more than 250 student leaders across our school. These pupils consistently uphold our values and go above and beyond in demonstrating kindness. Whether hosting primary school sports events, supporting pupils who have English as an Additional Language, running the Buddy Club, or serving as Anti-Bullying Ambassadors, kindness is always at the heart of what they do.
We embrace challenge - Sport continues to be one of our great strengths, and our pupils have once again represented Lynn Grove Academy with pride. From narrowly missing out on gold at the Wellesley Athletics Competition, to our girls' football team travelling across the country to represent Norwich City FC, and our netball teams enjoying another fantastic season, our pupils have embraced every challenge and achieved so much along the way.
A farewell to a legend - It is difficult to sum up a whole year's worth of success, achievement and celebration in just a few words. What may be even harder, however, is saying goodbye to a member of staff who has dedicated so much to our school community. After beginning his Lynn Grove journey in 1995, the legendary Mr Carter is retiring. Having taught generations of local families and embodied everything that Lynn Grove Academy stands for, he leaves an incredible legacy behind. He will be greatly missed by staff, pupils, past students and the wider community alike.
