I have been tutoring this pupil for 30 minutes once a week for the last few months which’s shows the impact and progress tutoring 1:1 can have! ✅

Had a Year pupil 3 come for a trial ahead of September. I started off the session by showing her parent the tutor room, asking about her individual needs, sharing the schools views and what she would like her child to focus on during our sessions. This helps me understand the parents expectations before we start the sessions. The parent also emailed me the child’s dyslexia report which I read before the trial.

In today’s trial I started off by showing this picture and then the child used her previous knowledge of colourful semantics to make sentences.This helped me understand if she knows what a sentence is and consists of.
She then wrote her own sentence and we added adjectives to make it more interesting. 🤩

I tutor this child once every 2 weeks for 30 minutes.
Each time we choose a different times table to focus on.
These lessons are for building confidence, securing times tables knowledge, building fluency whilst making it fun to prepare for the Year 4 multiplication check. 🤓

Year 1 phonics 30 minute tutoring session
I have been teaching the set 2 sounds using the Read, Write, Inc phonics programme which is familiar to the child.
Lots of sounding out, blending, sounds buttons and applying the sounds through sentence writing. Also red words (tricky words) bingo!
The parent shared with me the child’s ILP (individual learning plan) and I tailor the sessions to meet his spring term targets. ⭐️

This Maths lesson made me feel hungry! 😋🍕
