💙 JOIN OUR PARENT COUNCIL! 💙

We’d love to welcome some new faces to the Gore Glen Parent Council this year! 🙌

Our Parent Council is a great way to get involved in school life, meet other parents and carers, share ideas and help support our children and school community.

The Parent Council plays an important part in making special events and activities happen. Without the support and involvement of Parent Council members, we wouldn’t have events and initiatives such as:

🎃 The Halloween disco
🎄 The Christmas fair
☕️ School tea towels
👕 Uniform swaps
🤹 Community Day

These activities bring our school community together, create special memories for our children and help support the school in so many ways. By joining the Parent Council, you can help make a real difference!

📅 First Meeting: Thursday 17th September
⏰ 6pm
💻 Via Microsoft Teams

After that, meetings will take place on the third Thursday of every month, so you can join us from the comfort of your own home! 🏡💻

There’s no pressure or huge commitment — whether you can help regularly, occasionally, or simply want to come along and hear what’s happening, everyone is welcome.

✨ New ideas and new faces are always appreciated.
✨ It’s a chance to have your say and get involved.
✨ The more parents and carers involved, the more we can do for our school community!
✨ Together, we can continue making events and initiatives like these possible.

📢 School Transport Concerns – Have You Been Affected?

We are aware that some pupils leaving P7 at Gore Glen Primary have been refused school transport to Newbattle High School, while others have been successful.

Parent Council's across Midlothian are gathering information to help identify any common themes and raise concerns with Midlothian Council's Travel Team.

We are aware that several children who have recently left P7 at Gorebridge Primary School have been denied transport (a school bus) to Newbattle High School for S1, whereas others have been successful in their application. We are keen to understand if there is any pattern to these denials, and will....

Do you have school uniform that’s been outgrown but still has plenty of life left in it?

Help support our school community by donating clean, washed uniform items and then come along to our Uniform Swap Day to pick up anything you might need for next year – completely FREE!

💚💚💚💚💚💚 Thankyou so much to everyone who attended, supported & volunteered at the Community Day yesterday 💚💚💚💚💚💚
A big shout out to Lester and his team from Menagerie Edinburgh 🐐🐰🐹 for bringing all the cuteness to the day, the kids loved the animals 🥰
Huge thankyou to our food vendors Sugar & Ice 🍦🍧🍨 Pizza Piaggio 🍕🍕🍕 and Brew 52 ☕️🫖🧁 for feeding us, caffinating us and keeping us cool with all your delicious treats 🥰🥰 Also to Emma for the fantastic bubble tea 🧋🧋🧋 unfortunately one of the planned food vendors didn't turn up so appologies for food running out but I think we can all agree that Martin worked his socks off feeding as many people pizza as he could!
Well done to the P7s on another delicious bake sale 🍪🍰🧁🍩
The Matilda tunes from the school choir was absolutely fantastic,well done kids 🎼🎵🎶
Splat the teacher as always was a huge hit 💧💧
It was a shame the fire brigade had to leave but an emegancy came in and they had to go do what they do best, so a big thankyou to them for also attending 🚒🚒🚒
And we have a winner! The jelly cat raffle winner is Millie from P3. Your prize will be handed into the school on Monday.
