To our Year 6 stars, so brave and bright,
You’ve worked so hard with all your might.
SATs have come with papers and scores,
Timed little tests in silent halls and classroom doors.
But here’s the truth we hope you know,
Your worth is bigger than marks can show.
A SPaG paper cannot truly see
The storyteller you were born to be.
And maths can sometimes make you sigh,
With tricky wording designed to try
To catch you out or make you doubt,
But that’s not what learning’s all about.
A ticked-box answer, a grammar rule,
Can’t show your talents or all you do.
It cannot measure your brilliant mind,
Your creativity or the way you shine.
Some children worry, some feel stress,
Because these tests can feel like “more” and “best”.
But please remember, loud and clear:
These scores do not define you here.
They’re simply tests we have to do,
Not a measure of the wonderful you.
So walk in proud, hold heads up high,
You’ve got this, Year 6. Go and shine.
