We’re Saying Yes to Mud this week, giving children plenty of opportunities to get stuck in, explore and use their imaginations.

Say Yes to Mess! 🎨🌿

Mud on knees, paint-covered fingers, sand in shoes and water everywhere. It might look like mess, but for children it can be an experiment, an adventure, a work of art or a new discovery.

We’ve launched The Mess Report, new research exploring how families feel about messy play and whether children today are getting enough opportunities to experience it.

After speaking to 1,000 UK parents of children under 10, we found that 79% agree messy play supports children’s development, creativity and wellbeing, yet 70% believe children today don’t get enough opportunities to get messy.

We’re calling this The Mess Gap.

The Mess Report explores what might be behind that gap, why opportunities to pour, squash, mix, dig, build, splash and create are so valuable, and how we can make more space for them in childhood.

At Kids Planet, we’re proud to say Yes to Mess because we know there is method in the mess, and behind every muddy handprint and paint splatter is an opportunity for learning.

We know that sleep is an important part of every child's growth, development and wellbeing. 💚

Recently, updated safer sleep guidance came into effect across the early years sector - reinforcing the importance of creating safer sleep environments for babies and young children.

At Kids Planet, safer sleep practices are embedded across our nurseries, and our teams work closely with families to support each child's individual routine.

Today in the Toddler room we have had lots fun going on a bear hunt!

We explored different textures such as mud which in the story "were going on a bear hunt" is described as "thick oozy mud". We also splashed in the "deep cold river" and the "swishy swashy grass". The children enjoyed the different textures on there feet and also remembered the words used in the book for each step.

Before we emabarked on our adventure to find the bear we sat in our circle time area and read the book "were going on a bear hunt" to remeber the different steps we go through to find the bear!

Overall the children had a fab time getting messy and exploring different textures.

This afternoon, the Toddlers had a wonderful time celebrating Sea Turtle Day! 🐢

Using their imagination, the children brought their sea turtles to life with play dough, folding, kneading, and stretching it to create their unique designs. As they played and created, they were also developing their fine motor skills.

To continue the celebrations, the children got creative with some recycled materials, making their own 3D turtles using egg cartons, card, glue, and, of course, googly eyes to give them lots of character! It was a fun and engaging activity that encouraged creativity while exploring the importance of recycling. 🐢✨

This morning, our preschool children have been learning about the importance of road safety!
The children wore bright clothing to help them be easily seen by vehicles and remembered 3 very important things before setting off on the road. We stopped, looked and listened for any cars before crossing the road wiith a grown up. The children did a fantastic job, demonstrating their understanding of how to stay safe near roads!🚦🚗

We are delighted to launch our brand-new Outdoor Explorer Home Learning Bags for our nursery families!

Each bag includes an activity booklet packed with fun and engaging outdoor activities designed to encourage children to explore nature, develop new skills, and create special memories with their families.

We have had a roarsome day in The Tots room for dinosaur day. We have been exploring different textures. Making marks and using descriptive words such as Drip, wet, slimy and soft.

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming our sister nursery, Turnbridge, to join us for a mini sports day. Both our out-of-school children had a great time getting to know each other, and our children loved being such wonderful hosts. We can’t wait to visit Turnbridge next! Kids Planet Turnbridge
