Today, we took our team (who have named themselves Dig4Bones Productions) to London to compete at the Amazon HQ with 2Simple. They have spent the last few months designing and coding an amazing online game all about recycling and today they presented it to a panel of judges. We are so proud of their incredible achievement. They placed first in the South East Region and got to the last 7 schools internationally!

We found this spot at the Amazon HQ today and thought it was so fitting for this bunch of amazing children!

Last term, the children in Badger Class, wrote a series of letters inspired by the book *Beast Feast* by Emma Yarlett. As part of their learning journey, they created their own beastly characters and, during art lessons, brought them to life by learning how to make paper-cut models for animation.

Today, they showed fantastic teamwork as they worked together to create short stop-motion animations of their beasts attending their feasts. It was wonderful to see their creativity, imagination, and enthusiasm shine through in their finished projects.

I am incredibly proud of everything they have achieved throughout this learning journey. They have embraced every challenge with determination and have produced some truly brilliant work. Well done, everyone!

πŸ“š Please Help Support Our Small School! πŸ“š

We have the chance to win Β£1,000 worth of books to refresh and enrich our school library, and we need your help!

This year is being celebrated as the National Year of Reading, highlighting the importance of reading for pleasure and helping children develop a lifelong love of books. We are passionate about ensuring our pupils have access to a wide variety of high-quality texts that inspire, engage and support their learning.

A nomination only takes a moment, but it could make a huge difference to our children and their reading journey.

✨ Please nominate our school and share this post with your family, friends and local community. Every nomination counts!

Thank you for helping us give our children even more opportunities to discover the joy of reading. β€οΈπŸ“–

Yesterday, Otter Class went back in time at Dover Castle to relive Operation Dynamo.
First, they went deep down into the tunnels Vice Admiral Ramsay was using as his headquarters, to organise the daring mission of rescuing Allied troops from Dunkirk.
Next, Otters became trainee code breakers inside the hospital tunnels, we can’t say anymore because β€œCareless talk costs lives”.
We then found some shelter to eat our lunch inside the castle keep before making the most of the sunshine and exploring the siege playground.
We are very grateful to Dover Castle for allowing us to bring our World War Two topic to life.
Well done Otters for really throwing yourselves into the activities with such enthusiasm and joy.

🐰🌿 What an adventure for our Rabbits at Monkton Nature Reserve! 🌿🐰

The children had a fantastic day taking part in a Superworm workshop, where they created their very own worms, enjoyed listening to the story, and set off on an exciting worm hunt around the reserve. πŸͺ±πŸ“–πŸ”

Our explorers then stepped back in time with a visit to the museum, discovering fascinating historical artefacts, before getting hands-on and creative in the mud kitchen. πŸΊπŸ§‘β€πŸ³πŸŒ±

To finish the day, the children investigated insects preserved in resin, sparking lots of curiosity and conversation about the natural world around them. πŸžπŸ¦‹βœ¨

A wonderful day full of learning, exploration, and outdoor fun! πŸ’š

πŸ”¬πŸ§ͺ What an incredible science workshop visit from Pfizer! πŸ§ͺπŸ”¬

Our budding scientists had an action-packed time exploring the fascinating world of science through hands-on experiments and discovery!

First, they dived into the amazing science of super absorbent polymers, learning all about absorbent materials before putting their knowledge to the test by creating their very own instant snow β„οΈβœ¨

Next, they uncovered the hidden world of microbes, discovering the difference between the helpful and harmful kinds 🦠

To finish, the children became hygiene detectives, using special gel and UV lamps to see just how clean their hands were before and after washing them β€” a fun and eye-opening experiment! πŸ–οΈπŸ”¦

A huge thank you to Pfizer for delivering such an inspiring, interactive workshop and helping spark curiosity in the next generation of scientists! πŸŒŸπŸ‘©β€πŸ”¬πŸ‘¨β€πŸ”¬
