Year 6 planning

I love planning…!! It’s been raining all day & I’ve loved just sitting here thinking of how I can make learning fun & engaging.

I’ve chosen to use the book ‘The Explorer’ by Katherine Rundell - it’s a fantastic high quality text for upper KS2. Plus did you know that a couple of years ago it happened! In REAL life! (We’ll also do a newspaper article autumn 2)

But here is a brief summary of what I’ll be covering in Autumn 1 term.

✔️ low stakes activity to start as review/revisit
✔️ SPAG activity
✔️ Reading comprehension-VIPERS skills
✔️ creative writing activity
✔️FUN!

If you’d like more information of how I can help boost your child’s confidence and their learning please do drop me a message or call ☎️

Many thanks
Emma

Lesson planning English ✏️

I’ve been looking at the year 5 and 6 English planning today and thinking about using a book every term as focus. This half term it will be The Explorer by Katherine Rundell.

Each week starting with a spelling, punctuation or grammar starter and then using those skills in our creative writing.

✔️spelling
✔️punctuation
✔️grammar
✔️reading fluency
✔️comprehension
✔️ creative writing
✔️ building confidence & resilience
✔️lifelong love of learning

Have you read The Explorer? Highly recommend as a high quality UKS2 text!

Very wet first run of 2024! Thanks for encouraging and inspiring. Using the app which is fab! Very slow but steady -aiming for 1/2 runs a week plus my 15 mins.
I’ve NEVER liked running because it was always about speed and pace. I run slower than slow… but love being outside & clearing my head.

Do you have anything that you’re planning to do for you this year? X
