A few highlights from a recent Rescue 3 Europe Swiftwater & Flood Rescue Advanced course at R3 Safety & Rescue.

The advanced course develops existing swiftwater rescue skills through practical, scenario-based training, with teams working through more complex rescue problems.

The reel only captures a small part of the training, but it gives a good sense of what the course is about!

From 1 October 2026, the terminology used in Met Office National Severe Weather Warnings and Flood Guidance Statements will be updated.

Likelihood wording will also be standardised and supported by numerical ranges.

The 4×4 matrix, warning colours and underlying impacts are not changing — this is primarily a terminology update to make warning information clearer and more consistent.

For responders, emergency planners and organisations using this information in procedures, training or operational guidance, it’s worth being aware of the change.

We’ve summarised the wider Common Warnings Framework and what it may mean in practice below 👇

A few behind-the-scenes moments from a recent day supporting Rescue 3 Europe with filming. 🎥

It was great to help capture some fresh content showcasing the practical skills, systems and environments that sit behind technical rescue training.

Plenty happening both in front of and behind the camera — and we’re looking forward to seeing the finished results.

It was a real pleasure to welcome members of the Genod Glyndŵr Girls to R3 Safety & Rescue.

Our centre was formerly the village primary school, and many of the members who visited had once attended school in the same building. It made the visit particularly special, giving us the chance to hear some of their memories while showing them how the site is used today.

We were also joined by the local Mountain Rescue team - North East Wales Search and Rescue who gave an excellent talk about their work and how they support the local community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us.
