📚 Ahead of our trip to Westminster in a couple of weeks, our Year 12 Politics students have been exploring the motion: “The House of Lords is no longer fit for purpose; it should be abolished.” Students considered the role and functions of the House of Lords, including questions of democratic legitimacy, accountability, representation and legislative scrutiny.
🗣️ Students then put their arguments into practice through a lively debate, considering whether the Lords should be abolished, reformed or retained. A fantastic opportunity to develop critical thinking, construct persuasive arguments and challenge opposing viewpoints — helping students prepare for our upcoming visit to the heart of UK politics. 🏛️👏

The MfL department had great fun learning lots of different languages last Friday for the Day of European languages. It was brilliant to see so many students showing interest in learning and teaching a new language.

We learned: Indonesian, Hindu, Persian, Chinese (Mandarin), Tamil, Polish, Arabic, Bärndütsch, Gujarati and Toki Pona - it was a joyful atmosphere.

Powerful storytelling this morning as Year 8 watched Chelsea's Story. This hard hitting play is an important part of our Personal Development (PSHE) curriculum.

Pupils were also reminded of where they can go to talk or share worries to keep themselves safe in person and online. In school, our kind and approachable Pastoral Support Workers are trained in Mental Health First Aid and safeguarding, and are always available in a calm supportive space. There's always someone pupils can talk to at school.
