Finlay 3 Calton 2

This was a highly entertaining and competitive match as Calton began their league campaign. Both teams showed great determination, with plenty of passing and movement on display throughout.

After falling 2-0 behind early in the game, Calton responded brilliantly. Excellent teamwork, sharp passing and two well-taken goals brought the score back to 2-2 by half-time.

The second half was evenly contested, with both sides battling hard in every challenge. Unfortunately, a late goal from Finlay proved to be the winner, as the ball was lofted over the goalkeeper to secure victory.

Despite the result, there were many promising signs for Calton. Strong defensive play, impressive teamwork and some excellent passing demonstrated the team's potential. With plenty of competition for places, the squad will continue to grow stronger as the season progresses.

We now look ahead to our next fixture against St James' in two weeks' time.

As part of our Science topic, Materials, the children in Y5 conducted an experiment to test which materials can protect an ice cube from melting. They tried paper, plastic, fabric and tinfoil to wrap the ice cubes in to see which was most effective.
