What an incredible year it's been at Hartmore School! 🎉

As we close our doors for the summer with our annual Summer BBQ, we want to take a moment to celebrate the achievements, growth and positivity that have defined this year across every one of our provisions. From new friendships to personal breakthroughs, our pupils have shown us just how much they can achieve and we couldn't be prouder. Here's what our provision leads had to say:

Dawn Loveys — Stroud Road Primary Provision
"We are incredibly proud of our pupils this year at Stroud Road Primary, particularly the positive relationships they have built with friends and staff, and the progress they have made in their attendance and engagement. It has been wonderful to welcome new pupils and colleagues to our provision, and we wish those who are moving on every success and happiness in their next chapter."

Cath Quinton — Hartpury Secondary Provision
"This has been a very successful year at Hartpury. Pupils took part in interschool SEND Sports events including Endball, Archery and football, with brilliant behaviour and attitude throughout — thank you to Millie for organising this. We're also looking forward to eight RDA places at Hartpury Equestrian from September. More pupils engaged in qualifications this year, from Entry Level English and Maths to GCSEs, showing real resilience through exam season. Alongside enrichment from golf and skiing to team building, our pupils have flourished across the Character Curriculum — nothing beats seeing those who arrived anxious now laughing and thriving with friends and staff."

"It has been an honour to watch the girls at Stroud Road Secondary flourish this academic year, finding the resilience and focus to prepare for their exams with enthusiasm and positivity. This year I had the special opportunity of joining them on their PGL residential to Liddington, watching each of them challenge themselves, push out of their comfort zones and support one another to try new things — a real highlight of my year."

Provision Lead — Rudford Secondary Girls Provision
"What a great term it's been at Rudford — from a visit to Gloucester Cathedral to a very special (and cheeky!) trip from three baby goats, and a brilliant PGL residential where our girls took on the zip line, giant swing and canoeing. But beyond the activities, we're most proud of our pupils' perseverance, growing tolerance and emotional maturity this year. We wish those moving on the very best for their next chapter, and can't wait to hear all about everyone's summer!"

⚠️ Updated Early School Closure – Extreme Heat ⚠️

Following updated guidance, the UK Health Security Agency has extended the Red Heat Health Alert until 11:00pm on Friday 26 June. In light of this, and in the interest of the safety, wellbeing and comfort of our students and staff, Hartmore School will be closing early again on Friday 26 June.

🕐 School will finish at 1:15pm on Friday 26 June.

Please ensure that arrangements are in place for your child to be collected at 1:15pm. For those who use taxi transport, please contact your chosen taxi company directly to arrange the earlier collection time.

Thank you for your continued understanding and support over the past couple of days as we managed the impact of the extreme heat on our school community.

⚠️ Early School Closure – Extreme Heat ⚠️

In response to the forecast of exceptionally high temperatures, Hartmore School will be closing early on Wednesday the 24th and Thursday 25th this week.

🕐 School will finish at 1:15pm on both days.

The wellbeing, safety and comfort of our students are always our highest priority. This decision has been made to help ensure that pupils and staff remain safe and comfortable during the hottest part of the day.

Please ensure that arrangements are in place for your child to be collected at 1:15pm. For those who use taxi transport, please ensure your chosen taxi company are informed of the earlier collection time for both of these days.

We appreciate and thank you for your continued understanding and support as we take steps to safeguard the wellbeing of everyone in our school community.

☀️ WARM WEATHER UPDATE ☀️
For week commencing the 22nd of June.
With the current amber heat health alert in place and warm weather forecast to continue, we want to share some adjustments and reminders to help keep everyone comfortable and safe.

👔 Uniform:
Due to the heat, we are reminding parents and carers that pupils may wear knee-length tailored shorts or skirts in place of their usual trousers — smart and plain coloured, please.

💧 Hydration:
Our staff will be proactively refilling pupils' classroom water bottles throughout the day on a more frequent basis, and will be checking in with children to make sure they are drinking regularly. You do not need to send in an additional bottle — we have this covered!

😎 Breaktimes and Lunchtimes:
We have plenty of areas available for pupils to relax and cool down during social times. We will be encouraging everyone to take it steady, stay hydrated and make the most of quieter spots.

🧴 Sun Safety:
Please apply sunscreen to your child before school and send them in with a hat so they can protect themselves during any time spent outdoors. We will encourage pupils to reapply sunscreen at throughout the day if they have it with them.

We will continue to monitor the forecast and will update you if anything changes. Thank you for your continued support. It is very much appreciated.

In the lead up to the end of term our students were busy enjoying a variety of exciting activities!

Our primary provision had a sweet adventure at Cadbury’s World, exploring, learning, and enjoying all the chocolatey fun. A fantastic way to celebrate the end of term! 🍫✨
Meanwhile, at our secondary girls' provision, students put their STEM skills to the test with an Easter-themed egg drop challenge! They designed and built containers to protect their eggs, and after testing, almost all eggs survived. Well done to everyone for their creativity and problem-solving. 🔧💡

Across all school provisions, students enjoyed craft projects, sensory activities, and hands-on learning adapted to individual learning needs. We wish all our students, staff, and families a restful and enjoyable break, and we look forward to seeing everyone back next term! 💙

Last week was World Book Day, but at Hartmore we decided to spend a whole week celebrating our love of all things literature, with a week full of reading, creativity, and fun! Students explored their favourite stories, shared their top books in class, and took part in activities designed to spark imagination and foster a love of reading. 📖💙

Engaging children with books is about more than just reading, it encourages creativity, curiosity, and confidence, and helps develop a lifelong love of learning.

Our primary team went all out, dressing up as characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Can you guess who’s who? 🍫

🎉 Hartmore School Launches New Outreach Provision 🎉

We are proud to share the launch of our Outreach Provision, a flexible, personalised approach to support young people who are currently able to attend school on site.

At Hartmore, we understand that every child’s journey into education is unique. For some, coming into a school setting is not always possible, and our Outreach Provision allows us to meet students where they are. Extending support beyond the school gates into homes and local communities.

We are delighted to welcome Amy, our Outreach Provision Teacher, to the Hartmore team. Amy works closely with class teachers, parents, and carers to create programmes tailored to each young person. This may include live online lessons, one-to-one tutoring, and relationship-building check-ins, all designed to bridge the gap between our on-site learning and the individual needs of each student.

Through Outreach, we hope to build confidence, strengthen relationships, and help students re-engage with learning in ways that feel safe, achievable, and meaningful.

A warm welcome to Amy, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact this new provision will have for our Hartmore students and their families. 💙✨
