Old Richians Association

Old Richians Association We are determined to engage with Old Richians as never before and draw them in to an extended family of young people, staff, parents and governors.

The Old Richians Association invites all friends and former pupils of Sir Thomas Rich's School to become members and help to strengthen links between Richians old and new. Our new Richian Alumni Association aims to foster a sense of belonging among our former students and develop in them a lasting commitment to the School's success. We want Rich's to be an outward looking, dynamic centre of excellence that prepares young people to lead in a complex and challenging world. Our alumni have a vital role to play in this. We hope you will help us by supporting the School in all it does.

We are incredibly proud of four of our Year 11 students - Charlie, Ben, Adithya and George - who represented the North of England at Lord’s Cricket Ground on Thursday this week, playing in an invitational match against the South XI on the Nursery Ground. The match formed part of the inaugural Knight Stokes Cup, a new national competition celebrating state school cricket. The opportunity is particularly special given the boys’ achievements with the U15 team last year, which reached the semi-final of the competition, narrowly losing to the eventual winners at Headingley in July. Their selection and performance at Lord’s is another fantastic example of the strength and success of cricket at Sir Thomas Rich’s.

Our pupils benefit from a wide range of sporting opportunities and extracurricular activities, helping them to develop confidence, teamwork, resilience and skills beyond the classroom.

Many of these opportunities are made possible, in part, through funds raised so generously by our PTFA, alongside donations gratefully received through The 1666 Fund, our development initiative.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supports these fundraising efforts. Your generosity makes a real and lasting difference to the experiences we can provide for our pupils.

Four former students of Sir Thomas Rich's School completed the entire length of Hadrian's Wall last Saturday, covering all 70 miles in just over 14 hours!

Charlie Isaac, together with friends Chris Green, Ollie Booth and Scott Anderson, took on the remarkable challenge to raise money for a range of charities. The four friends, who started Sir Thomas Rich’s School in 2005, have remained close over the years and decided to undertake the demanding endurance run in support of causes that are important to them.

Charlie ran in aid of Prospect Hospice, where his younger brother Harvey, who has cerebral palsy, works. The team also raised funds for The Williams Syndrome Foundation, Prostate Cancer UK, The RAF Benevolent Fund and an MS charity.

Their achievement saw them complete one of the UK’s most iconic long-distance routes, demonstrating extraordinary determination and endurance while supporting a number of worthwhile charitable causes.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the county's top schools - the English Department at Rich's is made up of hardworking teachers with a real passion for language and literature, all focused on helping pupils develop their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. The Department currently has nine teachers, covering Key Stage 3 through to A-Level and Oxbridge preparation. Staff play an active role in the Department’s extracurricular programme, which includes a Shakespeare Society with regular visits to the RSC, creative writing competitions, and book clubs for each key stage.

The Sir Thomas Rich's Jazz Band took to the free stage at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival on Saturday afternoon in Montpellier Gardens, with a fantastic performance of jazz pieces old and new. The polished presentation was the result of lots of hard work and rehearsals; a huge well done to Mr Hinton and all the talented musicians and vocalists who took part!
