🔍 What is Modern Work Experience?

When many of us think of work experience, we think of a one-week placement at school.

But the world of work has changed, and so has work experience.

Modern Work Experience gives young people a series of meaningful encounters with employers throughout their education journey, rather than relying on a single placement. It helps them explore different industries, build workplace skills, and better understand the opportunities available to them.

📻 Excited to announce our The Careers and Enterprise Company Enterprise Co-ordinator Rob Pickup will be joining Kate Clark on BBC Radio Gloucestershire this morning to talk about youth employment and the value of summer jobs.

Many of us can remember our first job. The lessons learned often went far beyond the role itself. Building confidence, communicating with others, managing responsibilities, and understanding the world of work.

I'll be sharing why these opportunities remain so important for young people today and discussing the challenges and opportunities facing the next generation entering the workforce.

🔵 🔴 Armed Forces Week 🔵 🔴

Armed Forces Week is a UK‑wide national event held each year to recognise, celebrate, and show support for the entire Armed Forces community. A week-long campaign where the public, organisations, and communities come together to thank;

Serving personnel (Army, Royal Navy, RAF)
Veterans
Reservists
Cadets
Military families

But did you know that one of our very Enterprise co-ordinator Rob Pickup is a military veteran having served in The Royal Corps of Signals British Army between 2008 and 2014. It's also where he completed the first of his Apprenticeships!

Here is a photo of him as an 18 year old at his passing out parade upon completion of his phase one training. Then several years later laying a wreath at a Gloucestershire County Council remembrance day parade.
