St Paul's Playgroup

Our Story

St Paul’s Playgroup is an independent committee run playgroup and staffed by 5 qualified members of staff and an Manager. We are providing childcare for children from 2 years (term after 2nd birthday) until they start school. We are a voluntary sector playgroup that is run from a purpose built facility within the grounds of St Paul’s Primary School in New Street, Gloucester. We provide sessional day care for 26 children per session, 8.45-11.45am daily for preschool children. At present we are running 3 afternoon sessions for 2 year olds and rising 3’s, Tuesday and Wednesday between 12.45 – 3.15pm, term time only. We aim to provide a safe and enjoyable environment in which our children can “learn through play”.

The last term before school, children are given the opportunity to sit socially and eat a packed lunch and change for PE. We also have good links with the schools reception teacher. She comes over and works with the preschool group. Children are also given opportunity to go out and play with KS1 children and we do individual work with key worker groups throughout the year.

We promote the setting through leaflets, handbooks, open afternoons and we are on the county council and PATA information lists.

Our last OFSTED inspection was in May 2018 and the outcome was judged as Good

We have good links with School, SEN, EAL and Family Support Worker and liaise with staff with information needed to accommodate children with specific needs.

We also have use of the playground and infant climbing equipment. We now have an all-weather covered play area in the new build.

Parking is not available on site but there is some parking available in New Street and surrounding roads.
