It is with great sadness that we share the news that our former colleague and lecturer, Hilary Smith (Pillinger), has recently passed away.
Hilary was a key part of the University’s Playwork team for many years, before showing her versatility by then becoming ACL for Dance then Performing Arts, as well as a Senior Tutor. She received her 25-year long-service award for working at UoG in June 2023, a couple of months after learning the breast cancer she had been fighting, had spread to her brain.
She made the most of her remaining years, marrying her long-time partner Simon, supporting her children, playing with her dog, and raising money for Cancer Research. She passed away peacefully at the end of August.
Hilary was a much loved and respected member of our team. A beautiful human being who will be missed dearly.
