Meadowside Primary School

Meadowside Primary School Like us to help stay up to date with all things Meadowside! Hello! Thank you for taking the time to visit our school page. Miss Thomas

Headteacher

Meadowside is a special place because it is made up of special people. The school opened in September 2000 and we have tried hard to retain a family atmosphere ever since. Our unique building encourages us to think about, and take care of the environment and this helps us to care for each other and the wider world around us. We enjoy the excitement of learning together, we persevere with challenges and we are proud of all our achievements. This website will give you a flavour of our school and then we hope you will enjoy a bigger taste by coming to visit us!

We've just had a brilliant assembly about 'aspirations' from Christina Sadler, who is a parent in our school family. She has made a career out of her passion for art (you may recognise the Lion!). It was amazing to hear about her career and how she always tried to say 'Yes' to everything, even if she wasn't sure she could do it. Christina's work has appeared in John Lewis, Gloucester Hospital and even in her own gallery. We all feel inspired. Thank you Christina! https://christinasadler.com/ If you want to share your career with the children at Meadowside, please get in touch!

We are feeling incredibly grateful as https://www.thomasandthomasproperty.co.uk/ have sponsored a brand new football kit for Meadowside! It had its first outing yesterday afternoon and was by far the best kit on show! A huge thanks to these members of our school family, who have showed us another way to 'be kind'. πŸ’šπŸ’™ We have had special permission from the families below to share this picture.

Yesterday, the children learnt about Meadowside history during an assembly with Miss Mellersh. They learnt that in the 1300s, only TWELVE people lived in what we now know as Quedgeley! They learnt the names of the families that owned the land (Curtis and Carter) and how once King Henry VIII met the Mayor of Quedgeley on the 'Kings Way' (Bristol Road). Fast forward a few hundred years and the site at Meadowside was a factory that helped supply plane parts for during World War II! Our houses are named after famous planes for this reason.

Following this, children paired up across year groups in our annual Meadowside Scavenger hunt to remind us all about what makes Meadowside special. It was a brilliant morning!
