Last week, the children thoroughly enjoyed exploring music through instruments, singing, and dancing. We visited a musical group where the children experienced disco lights, dancing, and a variety of musical instruments. We continued this interest back at the setting by exploring different types of instruments and investigating how sounds can change—such as loud and quiet, fast and slow.
The children took part in lots of movement-based exploration, supporting both gross and fine motor development through music and movement activities. These included drawing, threading, balancing, running, throwing and catching, and many other physical activities that supported their overall growth and development.

We’ve had a great start to the week, beginning with a lovely Forest School trip filled with woodland activities.

The children have been learning all about birds, creating some fab artwork, visiting the wooded area to make bird nests, and exploring their voices by making bird sounds.

We have also loved pretending to be birds through movement activities, using the our arms to flap like birds.

We’ve made the most of the wet weather by splashing in big puddles, and we’ve continued to develop our interest in cars and numbers by making our own car park to aid recognising numbers and counting.

We enjoyed a lovely walk this morning, exploring the frosty weather and observing how the bubbles settled gently on the icy, frost-covered grass without popping. We also visited the park, where we played tag, raced one another, and practised our running and jumping skills.

Our first week back in 2026 has been good . Everyone has had lots of fun so far, along with plenty of exciting new learning!

Lovely autumn walks 🍁

What did they learn? 🌈

You know you love your children
And want them to have fun and play,
But in your thoughts you’re wondering
What they have learnt today?

They said they found a butterfly
And it flew up to the sky,
But they gained a curiosity
And got them asking why?

They said they drew a picture
You saw some scribbles on a page,
But they were developing their muscles
For that later writing stage.

They said they climbed a tricky tree
Though they then got a high five,
But they really learnt to keep going
And continue giving it a try.

They said they played dressing up
And became a dragon big and red,
But they were building imagination
And creativity in their head.

They said they played hide and seek
And it was so much fun to play,
But it taught them many social skills
And they made a friend today.

They said they read a story
And it had a funny rhyme,
But they gained a special love for books
To last ‘til the end of time.

So when you’re worried they’re just playing
And they might fall way behind,
Know they’re busy learning oh so much
In their body, soul and mind. 🧠 ❤️

What a lovely summer we've had so far! ☀️
These photos are just a small glimpse into all that we’ve been up to. From adventures and exploring, to learning, creating, leavers’ parties, getting caught in the rain, park days, outings, trips, and visits with friends… it’s been non-stop fun!

Did some be say dinosaur fossils? Yes! We did. There has been lots of talk about
Dinosaurs today, So this afternoon we have been sat in the garden making our own dino fossils! 🦕
