Where could King's Sixth Form take you?

Ahead of our Sixth Form Information Evening on Tuesday 13th October, we're sharing stories from members of the Class of 2026 and the pathways they've taken after King's.

Congratulations to Monty, who successfully combined his studies with elite-level sport, before signing a three-year professional contract with Newport Dragons RFC.

"The BTEC Sport course was one of the best decisions I made. It helped me achieve opportunities that I never expected when I started the course, while teaching me valuable skills both in and beyond sport.

We completed much of our work independently, which gave us the freedom to manage assignments and presentations while helping to prepare us for the future. Alongside this, we took part in practical activities such as delivering coaching sessions and developing skills across a range of sports.

The course covered a wide variety of topics, from research methods to energy systems in anatomy. Having assignment deadlines helped me balance my studies with my rugby commitments.

The course was challenging but highly rewarding, and I would recommend it to anyone considering a future in sport."

We congratulate Monty on this outstanding achievement and wish him every success in his professional rugby career.

Where could King's Sixth Form take you?

Ahead of our Sixth Form Information Evening on Tuesday 13th October, we're sharing stories from members of the Class of 2026 and the pathways they've taken after King's.

Congratulations to Joe, who achieved A*AA at A Level and an A* in his EPQ, and is now studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sheffield.

"In Sixth Form, I wanted to challenge myself to maintain my strong academic results while also making the most of the many co-curricular opportunities that King's has to offer.

One of my favourite aspects of Sixth Form was the independence students are given. This allowed me to build trust and strong relationships with my teachers, while also preparing me for university and working life.

Throughout Sixth Form, I challenged myself through a range of activities. In particular, the Fendick Public Speaking Competition gave me the opportunity to develop my public speaking skills and explore topics beyond the A Level syllabus. My favourite school trip was the Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition, where our team crossed Scotland by canoe in four days. Both experiences required resilience and offered unique challenges that I would not have encountered in the classroom. They also helped me build a strong personal statement, which contributed to receiving offers from several leading universities for a competitive course.

Throughout my time in Sixth Form, I knew that my tutors and the Sixth Form leadership team were always available to support me with any academic or pastoral challenges.

I achieved A*AA in my A Levels, alongside an A* in my EPQ, and am now studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sheffield. My time at King's gave me a strong foundation for the future and fostered an attitude of embracing challenges, which I will carry with me throughout university and beyond."

🏃 Last Friday, our Preps and Shells took to Archdeacon for House Cross Country, full of determination and energy!
There were some fantastic performances across the field, but it is Tailor House who lead the Cross Country standings ahead of the Transitions’ races in the summer. 💙🏆

For generations, choristers have been at the heart of life at King’s, shaping our history and inspiring our future.

In this video, some of our current choristers share what being a chorister means to them, from performing magnificent works in Gloucester Cathedral to developing a lifelong love of music, confidence and friendship.

The Chorister Bursary Fund helps ensure that talented children from all backgrounds can access these life-changing opportunities and continue Gloucester’s extraordinary musical tradition for generations to come.

Support the fund by joining us for The Big Concert, a celebration of baroque music by the award-winning La Serenissima, generously supported by John Osborn CBE, with all proceeds supporting the Chorister Bursary Fund.

🎨 Creativity was flowing at our Year 5 Art Workshop on Saturday, 'Colourful Me', where visiting pupils explored monoprinting and papercut techniques to create imaginative self-portraits.

Year 5 pupils are now invited to join us for our Drama Workshop on Saturday 28th November. Led by our enthusiastic Drama Department, the session promises to be an entertaining and exciting morning of creativity, culminating in a short performance for parents at 11am.
