The high winds have blown over one of our trees this weekend. We are currently waiting on a tree surgeon to remove it. We have also been in contact with Highways in the hope they may be able to put a safety barrier around it. Please take care when using the Holmleigh Road entrance to school.

DIY Headteacher update:

This summer has certainly been a 'labour of love!' 19 days and 150hrs. 14 of those my 21 year old Ela joined me. 4 of those my husband, Steve spent laying flooring and helping out.

Mrs James, Mrs Smurthwaite, Mrs Benbow, Mrs T. Jones, Mrs Owens and Mrs Evans also volunteered many hours of support too.

What a transformation! We are nearly there... Blinds still need to be put up and we still need to replace the TV screen for training. There are a few extra finishing touches too. The dishwasher is now in and the door rehung.

The £1485 raised through the Go Fund Me page and the £1000 gift of new chairs from the Gateway Trust has enabled these renovations to take place.

Support from Bishops to remove the old flooring safely was invaluable.

We have been truly touched by the support from the community. Our school looks amazing, if I do say so myself!

In addition to the renovated staff room we have a revamped entrance area, hall, corridors, reading area and a new den and family hub to add capacity to our pastoral provision.

Everyone in our community will benefit from the 'labour of love' this summer.

DIY Headtacher:
After 11 long days of painting since term ended, with the help of a team of staff (those mentioned in my previous post from week one and Mrs James and Mrs T. Jones this last week) who have given their time, we have achieved a lot.
- Mr Miles has finished painting the school hall walls.
- The team have painted the reception, admin, main and Y3 and Y4 corridors (200+ meters). Milo helped with skirting board royal blue - look out for the photo of him and look carefully at his tail!
- My youngest daughter (Ela), has painted out our new den and together we have painted the staff room. This weekend Ela has striped the damaged kitchen cupboard doors and painted them ready to be reinstalled. Painting some wooden chairs to go with the table will be next.
- Bishops generously gave their time (3 past pupils) to assess the damage to our staff room carpet and removed it for us. It is now ready for new flooring.
- Ela and I have created a new reading zone outside the school hall where adults can hear readers during assembly time to boost their skills.
Next steps:
- Mr Foster (our previous site manager) is giving his time to finish off the areas we have painted white with an application of royal blue to our skirting boards - my knee injury makes it very tricky for me to work low at the moment!
- Our refurbishments to the staff room will continue in week four when the flooring is laid, the cupboard doors are reinstalled and the room is dressed.
- Gloucestershire Gateway Trust have very generously gifted the school £1000 which has been used to purchase 14 new chairs. These need to be assembled and put in place.
- Our Go Fund Me page will be closed this week after we have raised an amazing £1450. This money will be used in the main to purchase the new flooring. The rest of the funds will be used for additional seating so we have enough!
- Our new mugs, glasses, canisters and kettle from Dunhelm will be added to the complete space.
- In week six the focus will be on preparing the walls in the corridors ready for the start of term.
It has been and will continue to be a busy hive of activity at school this summer.

DIY Headteacher - this week has been a busy one painting corridors that are in much need of renovation. A team effort today gave a real boast to a solo week of painting. Thank you to Mrs James, Mrs Evans, Mrs Owens, Mrs Smurthwaite and Mrs Benbow for your support.

Mr Miles (site manager) has made progress in the school hall whilst contractors have been upgrading internal doors and the perimeter fencing.

This summer, Grange Baptist Church will be hosting four HAF&HAP activity days. These will be from 10am until 1pm on Friday the 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th of August. These sessions are for the whole family and will give your children an opportunity to take part in cooking, craft and indoor sports. These activities will be hosted by different experts in their fields and will be a great way for you to all meet other people and make new friends.



Please be aware that you must book to attend. Spaces have been limited to 30 children, so please book quickly if you want to secure a place an any of these sessions. The link to follow is below.

We hope you have all had a lovely summer break and are enjoying the last day in the sunshine. We are all excited about seeing you all tomorrow - we have missed you. We were back to school last week and have everything ready for our busy start to the term.

Gates will open between 8:45a.m. - 8:50a.m. in the morning to let the children on site - use the gate that works best for your family. The children can walk to their new classes where an adult will be at the door to welcome them in.

If you miss a gate opening time please come to the main pedestrian gate on Holmleigh Road. Where your child/ren can walk up and go in through the office and get their register mark - after 8:55a.m. this will be a late mark.

Our new reception children are starting school tomorrow too and their adults will be bringing them into school through the main gate and around the side of The Oaks Children's Centre. All other children are to be dropped at gates like last term.

The school day finishes for all children at 3:15p.m. and gates will be opened at 3:10p.m. for families to come on side and wait for their children to come to them. We suggest you wait in the vicinity of your youngest child's classroom and you older children come to meet you there. Please use the gate closest to this place to limit the movement around the school grounds.

Robinswood Hill Nature Tots Outdoor time for pre-school children to enjoy nature in all seasons, have fun in the mud and enjoy creative activities.

Our school office will be closed until further notice under instruction from track and trace. Staff are close contacts of a positive case of COVID-19 from outside our school community. This is a precautionary measure - we DO NOT have a confirmed positive case amongst our community. The email [email protected] will be monitored throughout the day for urgent messages from families. Class adults will communicate urgent messages directly home if necessary.

Gloucestershire Holiday Activity and Food Programme (HAF) for Easter

As part of the Holiday Activity and Food Programme (HAF) Gloucestershire County Council are putting together a series of events to ensure that the free school meal children in Gloucestershire have access to activities and nutritious food during the first week of Easter half term.

Gloucestershire County Council are also offering support with vouchers for those families eligible for Free School Meals for the second week of the Easter Holidays.

If your child is currently not eligible for Free School Meals, but you feel that your personal and financial situation has changed and you would like to apply for term-time Free School Meals, you can check your eligibility through the link below.
