As most of you are aware, students from Sumners Taekwon-Do travelled to Poland as part of of GTUK's GB squad to take place in last weekends UITF World Championships. EVERY SINGLE MEMBER of our club who took part won at least 1 medal and we now have 2 new World Champions, bringing our tally of Sumners Taekwon-Do World Champions over the years, to an incredible 10 ๐ฅ๐. Glenis and I are humbled by, and incredibly proud of, your achievements - as we are with the entire GTUK Squad.

As well as commending OUR students for their incredible achievement, I would also like to acknowledge the following people without who's help it would have much more difficult to produce the high standards which have become a hallmark of our club:-
Firstly a huge "Thank You" to GTUK President Grandmaster Oldham who, many years ago, invited me to bring Sumners Taekwon-Do into the GTUK family and who has consistently supported, inspired and guided both me and Sumners Taekwon-Do to where it is today.
Senior Master Auciello for his guidance and unwavering support especially at times when his support has helped me calm down & weather some very personal and at times, highly political, storms.
Master King for his friendship and his constantly optimistic and joyous outlook on life. Next come my fellow GTUK Squad coaches for inspiring all of GTUK GB Squad and working so tirelessly over the two days of the competition. The numerous GTUK members who officiated at the competition over 2 long days and ensured that the results of each bout remained fair and balanced - especially Mrs Gemma Bowman-Yard who somehow managed to "run interference" in her role as GTUK Safeguarding Officer alongside her competition duties as an umpire/official and kept the entire team competing in a safe environment. Finally, my heartfelt thanks to my wife and club Secretary Glenis Sumners who ran herself ragged for 2 days keeping all of the GTUK's youngest squad members safe and (relatively) under control when their parents had to stay in the spectators area whilst their children competed. I know she does this for the love of GTUK and the children in it & sometimes this may not be noticed by me and busy seniors but both the children and their parents love and appreciate you for it.
Finally I would like the thank all of the students of GTUK who represented the GTUK so magnificently at the World Championships. Without your hard work and Indomitable Spirit none of this would be possible - "Tae-Kwon" I salute you as true Taekwon-Do warriors.
Dirk Sumners V, GTUK & Sumners Taekwon-Do.
