This Christmas Jumper Day, the Avantis Education team are celebrating the season while supporting a great cause.

Our collection of toys for The Salvation Army Christmas Toy Appeal has been picked up from our UK head office, helping ensure children in our community wake up to gifts this Christmas.

Thank you to everyone who contributed and helped make a real difference this festive season.

Last Friday, our US team came together for our Summer Gathering, a perfect chance to connect, recharge, and take a break from the day-to-day.

We had a great time bowling, sharing laughs, and some delicious food. These moments help us strengthen team connections and enjoy time with colleagues across different departments.

Last week, our UK team gathered at our Head Office in Quedgeley for our Summer Gathering.

With the theme "Stronger Together, Giving Together," the day was designed to bring colleagues together for a mix of connection, collaboration and fun, all while supporting a great cause.

Through fundraising activities including games, a bake sale and raffle, we raised money for Bright Futures UK, a charity that helps children and young people return to education after taking time out due to long-term mental health or physical challenges.

We rounded off the day with ice cream in the sun, followed by two fun-filled games of bowling.

Yesterday our Senior XR Engineer, Antonia, joined an expert panel discussion at the XR Network+ Roadshow hosted by CAMERA.

After a tour of the University of Bath's incredible facilities, including volumetric capture and virtual production stages, the panel explored how we can better facilitate creatives in developing the technical skills to work with advanced XR technologies.

Antonia spoke about the power of self-learning, while also highlighting the challenges of accessing specialist technologies like volumetric capture and virtual production outside of professional environments. The discussion also looked at how workshops, funding, and open access to facilities like CAMERA can help bridge this gap, encouraging more creatives to use these technologies to tell important stories.

An inspiring discussion and a great opportunity to connect with others passionate about the future of immersive technology in the South West.
