Expect the comedy and impressions for which Alistair is known and loved, poignant and clever poetry, and piano gems by composers such as Debussy, Satie, Mompou, Bryce Dessau, Scriabin and Amy Beach, to name a few.

🥁 NEW FOR SEPTEMBER: PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE! 🥁

Love drumming? Want to make music with other young musicians?

Our brand new Percussion Ensemble starts this September! 🎶

For young percussionists aged 10–18, from Grade 1 upwards, this is a chance to develop your playing, learn new skills and have fun making music together.

✔️Explore a variety of exciting music
✔️Develop your timing, listening and ensemble skills
✔️Meet other young musicians
✔️ No previous ensemble experience needed!

GAM will provide the percussion instruments including timpani, vibraphone, xylophone, glockenspiel, vibraphone and drum kit, so you can come along and get playing.

This September we are running a 'try an instrument' day at Barbican House. This is an opportunity for you to have a go at various instruments and see which is right for you. No experience needed! It will also be a chance to meet with the tutors and ask any questions you may have.

🎵 Most people think music starts with an instrument. It doesn't.

Before children learn an instrument, they can begin developing the skills that every musician needs.

At Infant Singing & Rhythm, children don't just sing songs. They begin to understand how music works. Through rhythm games, movement, percussion and the Musicland curriculum, children learn to recognise notes, understand rhythm patterns and develop coordination and listening skills.

It's why many of our young instrumentalists also attend Singing & Rhythm sessions.

Whether your child already plays an instrument or is simply showing an interest in music, Infant Singing and Rhythm helps build the foundations that support musical progress for years to come.

Suitable for age 3+, booking is essential on a pay what you feel basis.

🎻 Isn't Reception too young to learn violin?

It's one of the questions we're asked often.

The answer is no.

Violins and cellos come in tiny sizes, specially designed for young musicians. In fact, a String Starter will begin on an instrument that's just a fraction of the size of a full violin, while still being tuned exactly the same.

At String Starters, children learn through singing, rhythm and practical instrument playing, building musical confidence from the very beginning.

For many of our students, it's the first step on a musical journey that continues for years.

This room stands as a lasting tribute to Wes Duggan, our much-loved clarinet and saxophone teacher who was an integral part of music making here at GAM for nearly 30 years.
