If you're a parent or carer of a child or young person with SEND, a teacher, early years practitioner or you work in the sector more broadly, don't forget to fill in my SEND reform survey.
I want to ensure Gloucester voices and your experiences are heard as part of the government's ongoing consultation on SEND reform.

This is very useful if you have a deaf child or family member.

Today, was a momentous occasion. 3 years ago I joined the BSL Advisory Board to be the voice for deaf children and families, but most importantly for Finn.
This afternoon, the recommendations for the government were published and myself, along with the other board members, attended the Houses of Parliament to see the launch.
Stephen Timms MP attended the launch and spoke of his promise to support it.
What have I learnt? So much!!!!
We all need to be deaf aware, we all need to learn BSL to improve communication between the deaf and hearing world, access to all families to learn BSL from an early age and improved services for deaf people to access interpreters.
If you’re interested, the report can be accessed here:

Please share the report in the deaf community.
BSL user experience of health and social care in UK This report by the BSL Advisory Board highlights the exclusion of deaf and deafblind BSL users from health and social care and sets 12 priorities for change.

Looking forward to another parent support group tomorrow.
If your children attend this school, or you know of anyone who does, please share.
Yesterday, my new Associate and I met with the High Sheriff of Gloucestershire to talk about how we support schools and families with reducing suspensions and exclusions.
We explained how we are getting schools to recognise Behaviour As Communication and supporting parents with strategies beyond the school gate and at home to support behaviour.
