JPL U10s vs Gloucester Elite

A tough 11–3 defeat against a very good Gloucester Elite side.

Despite the scoreline, we matched them for large periods in terms of our football, hard work and the number of chances we created. Unfortunately, defensive errors and a lack of composure in front of goal proved costly.

There were plenty of positives to take, especially considering this team has only been together for two months. At times, we played some excellent football and showed exactly what we are capable of.

Moving forward, we need to reduce the simple mistakes, be more clinical in front of goal and recognise when a teammate is in a better position to receive the pass.

It was a brilliant game to watch, with some excellent quality on display from both teams.

A brilliant, disciplined performance from the boys against a team a year older!

We moved the ball well, played in the right areas and looked solid and organised throughout. Most pleasing was how well we matched them physically—we certainly didn’t look out of place.

The communication was excellent, and when we used the wide areas and made the pitch big, we created plenty of space through the middle to exploit. We also played confidently from the back and achieved both of today’s targets: staying compact defensively and having the confidence to take players on in attack.

Some excellent football, brilliant goals and a well-earned clean sheet!

A great day using the 3v3 pitch! ⚽️💛🖤

The small-sided games gave the players plenty of touches on the ball while developing their close control, quick decision-making, vision, awareness, passing and movement.

Playing in tight spaces also encouraged them to react quicker, communicate and stay involved throughout every game.

The players really enjoyed the experience—a brilliant day of football and development! 👏⚽️

A busy weekend of football with some excellent performances, valuable lessons and plenty of positives across all five teams. ⚽️

U9 JPL | 3–5 Hardwicke U10s
A positive attacking display against a strong team playing a year above. The boys scored three excellent goals, including a set-piece routine practised in training. We must now improve our concentration defensively.

Another excellent physical test against older opposition. Our defending, teamwork and build-up play were very good, but we lacked the final touch in front of goal.

Our best performance yet! The boys pressed with outstanding intensity, used the width of the pitch brilliantly and created opportunities throughout. A fantastic all-round team display.

A difficult game with plenty to learn from. The performance improved significantly as the match progressed, with greater effort, better movement and more opportunities created during the final third.

A positive test against strong opposition. The boys worked relentlessly and showed excellent desire and discipline, with our tactical work beginning to come together.

⚽ JPL U10s vs Cheltenham Town Girls U11s ⚽

A great, closely contested game with some excellent performances from both teams.

We started strongly and defended really well, keeping the game tight. Cheltenham opened the scoring before capitalising on another opportunity to extend their lead. We responded with a goal of our own and began to build momentum, but unfortunately it came a little too late in the game.

Some really valuable minutes for the players and plenty of positives to take forward. Well done to everyone involved! 👏

A tough pre-season test with some great players on show. We lacked our usual aggression and quality in possession today, but these are exactly the games we need to highlight the areas we can improve.

A disappointing result, but now it’s time to get back to work! 💪

U11s vs Kingstanley ⚽️

A really good test against a strong Kingstanley side. We started brightly and went 1-0 up, but some defensive mistakes ultimately cost us as the game went on.

Plenty of positives and lots to learn from as we continue preparing for the season. 💪

A goal fest! 🔥⚽️

A brilliant energetic press helped us win the ball high up the pitch and create plenty of goals. After switching off in the third quarter, the boys responded brilliantly in the final quarter with some really well-worked goals.

A very positive performance and more valuable minutes ahead of the new season! 👏

Match vs Northleach ⚽️

A brilliant 10-0 win and another strong performance showing real progress from training 👏

We started the game really strongly, going 6-0 up in the first quarter. The boys were aggressive out of possession, excellent in 1v1 situations, and played some great through balls to break the lines.

The second and third quarters were more difficult, with the team holding onto the ball too long at times and trying to force play. Credit to the opposition who defended very well and made it tough.

In the final quarter, we simplified things—better decision making, more movement off the ball, and using the wide areas effectively—which led to another 4 goals.

Overall, a really pleasing performance with the boys working hard from start to finish and clearly applying what we’ve been working on in training 💪
