Playwork Inspired Learning is all about encouraging a child's imagination to thrive. Allowing your child the freedom the explore the world on their terms and in their own time is key to their development.
Play has had a huge impact on 'Playwork Inspired Learning' author Chris Watkins' life. This is one of the reasons she is so keen to help others reap the benefits of it!

"Children all develop uniquely following their own path of learning, whilst working towards a curriculum-based set of outcomes.Playwork is no longer taught in any modules within the early years curriculum for any practitioners who are training, and many practitioners are under the belief that Play and Playwork are the same thing."

Such a simple idea, but children (and adults), love randomly spotting playfulness in the environment. It’s so easy to create, washes away but engages adults and children alike for a bit of spontaneous fun. When I set this up last year, I stepped away and witnessed adults teaching their little people, children jumping in each square to create their own fun, and adults jumping along the hopscotch like no one was watching
Would you play or walk past?

Whilst education is at the forefront of government at the moment. School based learning should not take place before five (and even then, they’re still babies really). Teaching has its place, but it shouldn’t be in the classroom 9 - 3, the real learning takes place with flexibility to move and being around children of all ages. Not just their own age group.

We can teach children their colours, shapes, letters, writing and how to read, but if they don’t have the confidence to put their hand up….. we have already made it harder for our children. Let play lead them to where and what they want to learn naturally, this way, the confidence in their ability and the drive to share this information will develop naturally
