Initially founded by Jack in the summer of 2020, he decided to setup First Thought Care Services. In the wake of COVID-19 he realised the shortage of care staff within the South West area. With many other care agencies, seeing it as an opportunity to increase their prices, causing many care facilities to close. Jack set up First Thought Care Services not for the money, not for the flexibility but purely for the opportunity to be able to help our local communities and care facilities to continue to provide the highest quality care that they have the power to give. We are CQC registered, which enables us to reach those in greater need. We currently supply directly to Gloucestershire County Council and Bath and North East Somerset Council; particularly for disabled children and young people (DCYPS). We support families with respite, short breaks and if required; overnight stays. Furthermore, we have expanded our family and opened an exciting new branch in Hereford! We have a number of facilities to suit, including - The Zen Den, our fully functional Sensory Facility which is open to all of our clients, as well as those who aren't - just give us a call! We also have Steps2Success, this is our Education Provision, providing bespoke packages to suit the needs of those who are unable to be in another setting. Not only this, but we also have residential properties in order to better the lives of someone who may be looking at a supported living kind-of package. 💚 Macmillan Coffee Morning 💚

A lovely morning at Head Office today for our Macmillan Coffee Morning! ☕️🍰

Plenty of cake, games, questionable guesses at how many sweets were in the jar 😂 and most importantly, lots of laughs!

We managed to raise £100 for Macmillan Cancer Support 💚

A big thank you to everyone who baked, brought treats, donated, joined in with the games or simply came along and helped make it such a nice morning. It was great to see staff and the people we support getting involved together.

And judging by the photos… I think the cakes went down pretty well!🧁

The summer holidays may be over, but that hasn’t stopped us getting out and having fun! Here’s a little snapshot of what some of those we support have been up to💙

We’ve had Carly enjoying Over Farm and a trip to the cinema, Latham exploring Slimbridge, and Jack heading to Westonbirt for the Room on the Broom trail 🌲

Marisha has been out exploring Sudeley Castle, while Roy has been making the most of the outdoors and getting out in nature 🌿

And Adam has been enjoying a holiday by the seaside 🌊☀️ We’ve got lots more from his holiday to share over the weekend… 👀

Investing in our Senior Team 💙

Our Team Leaders and Senior Support Workers work incredibly hard every day to support their teams and make sure that the support we provide is the best there is.

We know that stepping into a senior role brings more responsibility, more difficult conversations and more decisions to make, so it’s important that we give our seniors the same support and opportunities to develop that we expect them to give to their teams.

This week, our Service Managers delivered a dedicated Senior Training Day, giving the team time away from the day-to-day to build their confidence, develop their skills and think about how we work together as a team.

We covered supporting and leading staff, dealing with different situations and conversations, problem solving and, most importantly, how good leadership translates into better outcomes for the people we support.

We kept it hands-on and interactive with real-life scenarios, group discussions, games and practical activities, before finishing off with some team building (and a little healthy competition 😂)

Training doesn’t stop after induction. We want our staff to keep learning, developing and feeling confident in the roles they do - and we’re really proud of the senior team we have. 💙

But before you apply, there’s something you should know…

We’re not a traditional school and that’s exactly what makes us different.

The children and young people we support haven’t always thrived within mainstream or specialist education. We provide an alternative approach where learning can happen through play, exploration, experiences, independence skills, sensory activities and accessing the community.

Our support can be 1:1 or 2:1, depending on the needs of the individual. Our Teachers develop learning plans around each young person’s EHCP outcomes and targets, while our Teaching Assistants help bring those plans to life by encouraging young people to engage, explore and learn in ways that work for them.

A Teacher won’t necessarily be beside you leading a classroom throughout the day. They are based within the provision and available for guidance and support, but our TAs play an important role in delivering individualised learning and recording progress.

We’re looking for people who understand that progress looks different for every child. Some days will be amazing. Some will be challenging. The young people we support have a variety of needs and behaviours, so you’ll need patience, creativity, flexibility and resilience and the ability to keep going when things don’t quite go to plan.

In return, you’ll become part of an ever-growing team, with opportunities to train, develop and progress while genuinely making a difference to the lives of children and young people.

Even more excitingly, we’re an Alternative Provision with ambitions to become an independent school, so you could be joining us at a really important stage of our journey. 🌱

As we Weren't going to see her on her birthday, we made sure Thursday was all about celebrating Megan.
There was cake, Presents, plenty of smiles and an afternoon spent with her friends.
It was so lovely to see all of them enjoying themselves. We hope your birthday was just as special.

End of Summer Photo Dump 🌞
A little collection of sunny days, messy moments, good food, tired faces, big laughs and everything in between.
Summer has somehow disappeared before we knew it. We've made some lovely Memories and friendships, had so much fun and definitely made the most of every bit of sunshine we got.

Our staff have loved getting out and about with the people we support and and making the most of the sunshine. Its been brilliant seeing everyone enjoying themselves and trying new things together.

Carly had the most amazing time exploring everything Longleat has to offer.
Its amazing to see how inclusive and accessible the day was, with Carly able to enjoy so many attractions and experiences. One of the highlights for her was the wheelchair swing - she absolutely loved it 🩵
From getting up close and feeding the animals to having lots of fun in the splash park. It gets a 10/10 from Carly 🌟
