Halfway in the team competition and it's all to play for! Shout out for Meysey Hampton,, smallest school by some way, so definitely punching above their weight in second!

All to play for after 3 rounds in the Congress, Longlevens hold a slim advantage in the team tournament, with Upton and Churchdown in hot pursuit.

It's an exciting day at Churchdown Village Junior School, where the Gloucester Primary Schools Chess Congress is taking place. Mike Ashworth and Maddy Dupree, who were both previous winners, are helping to organise this annual tournament, which has been running since the 1950's. Good luck to all the 35 players involved and a big thank you to the school for letting us host the event.

Can anyone stop Churchdown on the their march to the league title? Today it's Upton St Leonards turn to battle against the odds! Good luck to all the children involved and a big thanks to Maddy for helping to set up the boards!

Chess Update-17th May

Social Chess Postponed until further notice.

Good evening all, I hope that everyone is well. I am sending this message/update to everyone who has either attended or shown an interest in the social chess lessons which have been taking place on a Thursday evening. I am also sending it to all parents who have signed up to chess lessons during the last two terms. Unfortunately, the numbers attending social chess have not been as high as I had hoped and it just isn’t viable in its present format. I have therefore decided to postpone the sessions until I can come up with a venue and time/day which I think will be more convenient for a greater number of people. Several people have indicated that a later time would be better, but unfortunately this is not possible at the coffee shop and a different venue will come at a greater financial cost to myself. Thanks to those who have attended the sessions, I will try come up with a plan in due course and hopefully relaunch the sessions soon. In the meantime, I apologise to those who are inconvenienced or disappointed by this postponement. Very best wishes, Richard.
