There is still time to complete the School Governor Parent Survey. The link to the survey was sent out via email. Please do take some time to complete. Many thanks.
School Governor Parent Survey - please complete!
We’d like to draw to your attention a parent survey the School Governors have sent out. Governors are really interested in hearing your views on the school, as this will help guide them in their work. This survey has been sent out by email (last week) and they’d be grateful if each parent could find 5-10 minutes to complete. Understanding your views of what we do well and what we can improve will really help us all. Many thanks!
Don’t forget it’s ‘Break The Rules’ day tomorrow!
We are also in the local paper! Well done to all the staff and children for brightening local peoples day’s.
Glossop school's lovely gesture brightens businesses Businesses across Glossop were given a boost this week, thanks to a random act of kindness by staff and pupils at St Luke's C of E Primary School.
🌼 The children of St Luke’s have been delivering thank you cards and flowers to local businesses today. Such lovely comments on social media we had to share them with you! 🌼

The children in school have been really concerned about what is happening in Ukraine and wanted to do something to help the refugees.
The children in Eagles have been proactive and have organised a fund raising event.
On Friday 18th March they have planned a ‘Break 5 Rules Day’. On that day the children can choose to break any or all of the rules below, for every rule they break they need to donate at least 50p.
The rules they can break are:
• Sensible hair (the children can have wacky hair / accessories)
• School shirt / jumper (the children can wear what they want)
• School trousers, skirts shoes etc (the children can wear what they want)
• Only water in drinks bottles (the children can have squash in their bottles)
• Healthy snacks (the children can bring in an unhealthy snack)
If children want to bring in a larger donation we will make sure it goes in the refugee fund.
Don't forget St Luke's Christmas Fair is tomorrow (Friday 3rd December) 3.30pm - 5.30pm.
Father Christmas will be at the fair from 3.30pm until 4.45pm. No booking required to see him. Just pop by and see him in his grotto!
Please collect your children as normal and stay for some festive fun!
Christmas Fair Mug Update
We are very excited to announce that we have 150 Christmas mugs all ready for collection at the Christmas Fair tomorrow. The mugs do come in a box but please come prepared with a bag to carry them home in.
We will place one final order for mugs on Monday 6th December so please get your order forms in to school as soon as possible.
If you cannot come to the fair, we will send your mugs home with your children in the following weeks.
We had pre ordered 150 mugs but need more than 200 so please be patient as we get the final ones ordered and rolled out.
Thank you so much for the amount you have raised for the Rotary Glossop Jog. So far St Luke’s have raised £1,739. There are still a few children who haven’t returned their sponsor money so that total should go even higher.
Yesterday we held our traditional House Christmas Tree make. We were really impressed by the quality of the children’s work. They had so much fun working together to make these wonderful Christmas Trees.
Please can all parents and children use the pedestrian gates and the path. Recently on the way into school children have been coming in through the vehicle gate and walking across the car park rather than using the pedestrian gates and the path. This is dangerous. The children must use the path. Thank you for your cooperation.
Today your child should have come home with an order form for a mug with houses designed by all the children in school, please get your orders in as soon as possible so they can be ready for the fair.
Completed forms can be returned via your child’s class teacher/school office.
Don’t forget tomorrow is non-uniform day for contributions to the Christmas fair. Key Stage 1 are asked to bring in chocolates for the chocolate tombola and Key Stage 2 gifts for the wrap stall.
Sadly we haven't been able to welcome the new children in as we would like, so the Kestrels have made this brilliant film to share with the new children. We look forward to meeting you all.

More clues from escaped characters, found hidden around the school on Friday...
.. do you have any ideas who could have left them?
Evidence has been found around school of characters on the loose.
What has happened at St Luke's??
The children have found their library in a mess with characters missing from a book!
There are many theories about what could have happened. There may be story book characters loose in schoool.
Well done everyone!

The way Maths is taught has changed since you were at school.
Does it sometimes feel as if your child is speaking a foreign language when talking about Maths?
Were you frightened or baffled by Maths at school?
Do you want to know more about how Maths is taught now?
Do you want to know how you can support your child?
If you answered yes to any of these questions come and find out more about how your child is learning Maths at a non-scary session organised by PEGS at Hayfield Primary School Tuesday 4th February 6.30-7.30.
Here is an amazing video that some of our Year 2 children have been making. I'm sure you'll agree they've done a brilliant job.
