Here is the first look at our community festival âWhitfestâ held yesterday at Saint Mary's in partnership with High Peak Schools Sportsâ Partnership and Move More Glossop.
The festival provided pupils with the opportunity to get active, learn about health and fitness, try out new sports available in their community, and most of all have fun with their friends and family.
More photos and commentary coming soon.
Congratulations to the children receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion yesterday!
You made us very proud and we were delighted to share your special day with you.
On Wednesday this week, join us for WHITFEST 23, our community festival in partnership with High Peak Schools Sportsâ Partnership and Move More Glossop.
The letter linked below has all of the details but there are few other reminders as the weather is looking great!

Don't forget all children need to be in their PE kit on Wednesday.
SUNSCREEN
Children will be encouraged to put on their own sun screen when appropriate.
If sunscreen is brought into school it should be labelled with the childâs name and given to the teacher for safe keeping. Please do not send aerosols. Children are reminded not to share sunscreen products with friends.
Staff are not able support with the application of sunscreen but can supervise children applying the products themselves. We recommend that parents apply sunscreen at home before the start of the school day.
Consideration is given to limit the time children spend outside in the hottest part of the day and children will be encouraged to seek shade.
WATER BOTTLES
If is essential that every child has a water bottle / flask with them in school everyday particularly now on the summer. We do have water fountains that the children can use but these arenât easily accessible to children when taking part in outdoor activities. Children can refill their bottle during the day.
HATS AND CAPS
Children are encouraged to bring a sun hat or cap into school in the warmer summer months. Please ensure the hat is named to prevent confusion and help us return any lost property.

We are praying for the candidates who are preparing to receive the sacred Sacrament of First Holy Communion on Sunday.
We pray that Jesus fills their hearts with His love and that it will overflow to their friends and families.
Congratulations! God Bless!
Our small company of budding thespians wowed their audiences on Wednesday with a clever and surprising version of the 'The Three Little Pigs' as retold by Road Dahl. Each pupil contributed to the success of the play showing confidence that had come from their dedication to rehearse.
Huge thanks goes to Mrs Boardley and Mrs Jones who run this weekly after school club.

Ave, Ave, Ave Maria!
A joyous Catholic tradition to crown Our Lady during the month of May.
With the photocopier having been out of action for nearly a week (!) weâve not been able to get this message printed in time for Year 6. However it is nice for all our families and supporters to read and perhaps send encouraging messages to our Year 6 before next weekâs statutory tests. Here is the letter from their classteacher Miss EtchellsâŠ..
Dear Year 6,
Your homework for this weekend is to relax and enjoy the special coronation celebrations! You have worked incredibly hard this year to prepare for your SATs. I am extremely proud of you and know that you will come in next week ready to do your best and show everyone what you are all capable of.
Please do not worry; stay calm and remember, you have completed assessments so many times during your school yearsâŠ..you know exactly what to do.
It is important to remember that you all have different skills and talents, some of which the SATs wonât measure but we recognise and celebrate these: singing, dancing, sports, art, the list is endless.
One last piece of advice for next week- plenty of early nights and a good breakfast, whether at home or at our breakfast club in school.
Thank you once again for all the hard work you have put in this year.
From Miss Etchells
Two after-school sports clubs will resume next week with OTIS. Children in KS1 can choose to attend the football club on Wednesdays and all year groups are welcome to attend the multi-sport club on Thursdays. Bookings and payments can be made online at

Whatever your plans are, have a lovely bank holiday everyone!
Thank you to Glossop Dental Centre for inviting Reception and Year 2 to visit the practice.
The children heard key messages about the correct way to brush their teeth, sorted food into groups that were 'good' or 'bad' for teeth and had a chance to see the consultation rooms. And of course, no visit to the dentist would be complete without a sticker and goody bag of free samples! Particular thanks to Mrs Davies of Glossop Dental Practice for working with school to arrange this visit.
This visit complements the Smile4Life dental programme both classes have been focused on this school year.
Time to get smart about watches? âđ Wearable tech is usually considered 'cool' by young people, with smartwatches at the forefront â but are they safe from risks? Trusted adults can find out in our guide đ
