Two of my guitar students will be playing this Sunday in a Battle of the Bands event, each performing with a different band.

It’s always great to see students taking their playing out of the practice room and onto the stage and into a real band setting.

A bit of a different post from me this time.

My band Herding Cats are playing a live show at the Simpson Institute in Upper Largo on Friday, 6 March.

It’ll be a relaxed night of rock and pop classics and singalong anthems, £5 entry and bring your own refreshments.

If you fancy a good night out, tickets are available on Eventbrite or on the door.

As a follow up to the student recital, here are two full pieces I played at the end of the night.

I was asked to share them, and I’m happy to do so. Teaching is a big part of what I do, but getting up and playing properly still matters, it keeps me connected to the same challenges the students face.

It was a really positive night all round.

Last night’s student recital went really well, and I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who performed.

Standing up and playing in front of an audience takes courage, focus, and a lot of preparation, and every single performer should be proud of themselves. The progress on show across all ages and levels was brilliant to see.

Thank you as well to the families and friends who came along to support the players. That encouragement makes a real difference.

Well done everyone, and thank you for making it such a positive night.

Great Drummer and Teacher for those looking to learn Drums.

Hi Folks, a very Happy New Year to you all. I now have spaces available to teach more adult drum students.
Due to demand, I have increased my availability to include an extra evening of teaching.

If you have always dreamed of playing drums, now’s the time to start! Why not challenge yourself with trying something new this year? You may find a a hidden talent!

Perhaps, the kids have grown up and you have some more time?
Maybe Santa brought you a drum set? Or, you have been at gigs and thought the drummer was cool and imagined being that person!

After more than forty years playing drums all over the world, I concentrated on teaching drums eight years ago. My community of local students have amazed me! It really is possible to be playing drums, in a band, with a bit of work and support from me.
Several of my students have already achieved this and this could be you!

If anyone is interested in learning drums for fun or perhaps to help manage some stressors in their life then please contact me. The first taster lesson is FREE!! And you will always receive a warm welcome.
