All food is prepared on the premises and children staying for dinner eat in the dining room

Signalong is a great fun way for all children to communicate effectively. The staff and the children have been using a variety of simple signs from signalong throughout the nursery. Our sign for next week will be "please". Here is a brilliant demonstration from Lee.
We hope you and your family will enjoy practicing this at home.

We often go for buggy walks with our families from Ladybird and Carleton in the local community. These walks will be starting again soon! Look out for information next week! While walking with your wee one and pushing the buggy it's a perfect opportunity to talk about what you can see in the local environment. This can increase their vocabulary. Why don't you try singing rhymes while walking as well ? It's fun and promotes early language skills.

Over the next month we will be trying to see the world through the eyes of a child. This week we are thinking about what it is like to be in a buggy. Your child can see and hear lots of things when they are out and about in their buggy. This is a great opportunity to talk to them about what they are seeing so they can learn about the world and develop their speech and language skills. In order to develop a child’s speech and language skills we should try to get down to their level and get face to face as much as possible. This can be tricky with some prams and buggies, so here are some tips to promote communication when you are out and about. #banter4bairns #toptip4tues

Fireworks can be great fun, but if not used correctly they’re dangerous. This Bonfire Night, make sure you know about the risks, and always follow the Fireworks Code. More safety advice here ➑️ bit.ly/3k9qejw

Remember, remember… the impact of fireworks.

Here is a reminder about safety with Bonfire night coming up on Friday. Enjoy celebrating with your family and friends in an organised environment and stay Safe!!πŸ™‚

The highlight of many people’s celebrations is lighting up sparklers. But these can be just as dangerous as fireworks if they are misused. Did you know that sparklers burns at 2000 degrees, that’s 20 times hotter than boiling water.

If you're using sparklers, please follow these safety tips:

Always light sparklers one at a time and wear gloves

Never hold a baby or child if you have a sparkler in your hand

Don't take sparklers to public displays, it will be too crowded to use them safely

Plunge finished sparklers hot end down into a bucket of water or sand as soon as they have burnt out as they can stay hot for a long time

Always supervise children using sparklers

Give children gloves to wear when holding sparklers

Avoid dressing children in loose or flowing clothes - they may catch light

Show children how to hold sparklers - away from their body and at arm's length

Teach children not to wave sparklers near anyone else or run while holding them
