👶💚 Could you help us make a difference?

Our school are looking for families with a 2–4 month old baby by October to take part in the Roots of Empathy programme.

Your baby will become a little “Tiny Teacher”, visiting a classroom nine times throughout the school year. Children will learn about your baby’s development, emotions and needs, while also developing empathy, kindness and understanding of others. 💚

A wonderful opportunity to make a positive difference in our school community! 🌱👶✨

It was so lovely to meet our new P1 children as they officially join the Ballyhenry Primary School family! 💙💜

We have had such a wonderful time getting to know our newest pupils, and it has been fantastic to see all their happy faces as they begin their exciting school journey. 📚✨

We're delighted to share our first newsletter of the new school year, packed with important information, updates and reminders to help everyone get off to a great start.

Highlights include:

🚸 Road Safety, Arrival, Drop-Off & Walking Home
Important reminders about travelling safely to and from school, arrival and collection arrangements, school entrances, punctuality expectations, and procedures for children who walk home independently.

🍽️ School Dinners & Free School Meals
The dinner menu, menu rotation dates, and a reminder that Free School Meals applications must be renewed annually.

🌿 Outdoor Learning & Weather Preparation
Exciting developments to our outdoor learning spaces and advice on ensuring children come to school dressed for the weather with suitable coats, wellies and spare footwear.

📚 Homework & Learning at Home
An overview of our homework approach, rooted in the Science of Learning, with simple activities designed to reinforce key skills and support learning without becoming overwhelming.

💙 Together, we can help every child be Safe, Ready and Respectful and enjoy a successful year.

📣 Pre-Start Newsletter 2026-2027 📣

The countdown is almost over and we can't wait to welcome everyone back for another exciting year at Ballyhenry! 🎒✨

A few important reminders:

• 📅 Connect with Class Appointments take place tomorrow. By invitation. Please check your emails for your appointment time.

• 🏫 Most pupils (excluding P1 children) will return to school on Tuesday 25th August.

• 🥪 Until school meals and breakfast services begin on Tuesday 1st September, children will need to bring their own break and lunch each day.

🏗️ We've been working hard all summer alongside the construction team to get everything ready, and we are so excited to open our doors once again!

🐾 And don't forget to read Rupert's Summer Sniff-Report! Find out how our Chief Happiness Hound celebrated his 2nd birthday, became a wedding Dog Bearer, supervised the building works and prepared for the new school year with plenty of woofs and waggy tails.

All Hands on Deck! ✨

It’s all hands on deck at Ballyhenry Primary School as our staff work hard getting everything moved into our brand-new classrooms! 📦🪑

There’s lots to do, but we’re so excited to see the rooms coming together and can’t wait to get them filled with happy faces! 🥰

We can’t wait to welcome our pupils into their new classrooms next week! 🎉📚

✨ Ballyhenry’s Uniform Swap Shop! ✨

We’re delighted to invite families along on Saturday 22nd August, between 1–3pm, for our Uniform Swap Shop, located beside our new Foundation Station if you’d like a sneak peek- or maybe you’d just like to see if without the uniform swap! 💜

Have clean, good-condition school uniform that your child has outgrown or no longer needs? Bring it along and give it a second chance, swapping it for something your child can use.

A great way to save money, reduce waste and support our school community, one uniform at a time!

We hope to see lots of our Ballyhenry families there! 🩵
