The truth is, this poem is probably the closest answer I can give. People often ask me how I got into this work.
Why voice?
Why singing?
Why hypnotherapy, confidence, self-expression and helping people find their authentic voice?
The truth is, this poem is probably the closest answer I can give.
For years, I learned how to make myself smaller. To fit in. To keep the peace. To make other people comfortable.
I became very good at reading rooms, people pleasing, performing and trying to be what everyone else needed me to be.
But somewhere along the way, I realised that constantly abandoning myself was costing me far more than any criticism ever could.
So I made a decision.
Not to be fearless.
Not to be perfect.
Just to keep taking one brave step at a time.
One singing lesson.
One open mic.
One workshop.
One performance.
One uncomfortable conversation.
One act of self-trust after another.
And little by little, the voice I had spent years silencing became stronger.
Today, the work I do isn’t really about singing.
It’s about helping people stop shrinking.
It’s about helping people trust themselves enough to be seen, heard and expressed exactly as they are.
Because the world doesn’t need more people hiding their gifts.
It needs more people lighting their own fires.
✨ If you’ve ever felt like you’ve had to make yourself smaller to be accepted, I’d love to know what part of this poem resonated with you most.
